That was the real reason Trump went to Vietnam.
Meeting Kim was just a side-trip.

Vietnam abandoned Communism in 1986, they knew it didn’t work.
Ho Chi Minh turned over in his grave.

“The Art of the Deal” strikes again! And we thought Trump was coming home empty-handed.

That depends on how we view and meet the future. Vietnam is becoming everything they fought against. And they won?

So now Boeing will instead of bombing Vietnam, it will be building the planes that will bomb our interests in the next war.

That's also the real reason why Obama signed that Iran deal a few years ago, too.
The U.S. is willing to sign deals with every Third World sh!t-hole on the planet, as long as their state-owned airlines buy Boeing aircraft for their fleets instead of Airbus.
Seriously. In the immortal words of a local sports radio host here in NYC ... "If you see something in the news that doesn't make sense, you can be sure it makes dollars."

60K Americans killed for nothing .. You couldn't be more wrong. The Vietnam War was not about Vietnam, it was about showing the Soviets that they weren't going to be able to expand their influence without a fight. To that degree it worked, even if ultimately Vietnam fell to the Communists.

They’re still considered a communist country in line with China.

Theyre still considered a communist country in line with China. Well the old farts still want power. It's certainly not a democracy, more authoritarian than anything, but then that probably describes most nations on the planet these days. We are an exception.

60K Americans killed for nothing ..I know war is often necessary, but it seems so damn stupid when a once-hated enemy becomes a partner. Germany, Japan, Vietnam. So many lives lost, so much pain and suffering, all forgotten in the years that follow.

Wow, that’s a huge order.
Vietnam sees China manufacturing new islands and military bases right off its shores, so it is looking for more US engagement.
