Americans don't usually think of technical professionals as "guest workers," yet at any one time, there are more than a half-million foreigners holding tech jobs in the U.S. They are here thanks to the H-1B visa program. H-1B, so the official spiel goes, addresses an alleged shortage of "highly skilled" Americans to fill jobs "requiring specialized knowledge."
Growing evidence, however, points to companies' using the program to replace perfectly qualified American workers with cheaper ones from elsewhere. A new report published by the Atlantic Council documents the abuses. The authors are Ron Hira, a political scientist at Howard University, and Bharath Gopalaswamy, director of the Atlantic Council's South Asia Center.
Among their criticisms:
Virtually any white-collar job can be taken by an H-1B visa holder. About 70 percent of them are held not by what we consider tech workers but by teachers, accountants and salespeople, among others.

Look no further than Disney and their animators. Some of the americans were laid off but, before they left, were required to train their foreign replacements.
I get those calls, curse them out and hang up.
Their as bad as the calls I get from Jamaica trying to con my Aunt into giving them money for her Lottery Prize.
Companies want cheaper labor.
Government reps help them get it, in return for _________________.
Worker voters keep voting in those gov reps, and fg themselves.
Until American worker voters wise up, it continues.
My favorite is when I contact a call center and the person who answers the phone has a strong Indian accent and calls themselves “Rick” or “Cathy”.
And all those tech workers have to do is find a girl in the States or ship one over from the homeland, get her pregnant and have the kid in an American hospital.
Instant citizen.
And now they never have to leave. Then, they get to bring their entire family over and eventually move to someplace like Cumming, Georgia, where they take over a subdivision but have about 15-20 living in the house. Annnnnnnndddddddddd thennnnnnnnn..... they put the house in the name of their elderly parents so they get a tax exemption on paying school taxes.
We are such suckers in this country.
If they want the workers, then they have to apply for and get work visa’s. Part of that process should be, you will not be allowed to apply for citizenship and any offspring will never be an American citizen. I wonder, if you were able to pull that off, how many would be signing up to come here. Probably not many.
Yeah, I get a few a week. I am an IT professional, so I do have a bit of fun with them before they hang up on me.
Earlier, Robert worked for Dell Concierge in Mumbai.
When Dell closed the program, Robert and his buddies kept all the phone numbers and went into the Windows scam bushiness
I work in IT. I’ve lost count of how many issues, outages, and security flaws I’ve seen as a result of an inability of those involved to clearly communicate using the English language.
Send them all home.
“A virus!! All I use the durn thang for is bankin’. How am I gonna git rid of a virus?”
And the hook is set. Pa Kettle Goes to Calcutta
Absolutely correct.
Once that anchor is born they start chain migrating their entire village.
Who told you we need the foreigners to do jobs Americans cant?
Heres what the article says (quoting authors of a new study):
“By every objective measure,” Hira and Gopalaswamy write, “most H-1B workers have no more than ordinary skills, skills that are abundantly available in the U.S. labor market.”
Americans are being replaced and half the country is being knocked down to third class status.

My favorite YouTube videos are the ones where the Scammers get scammed.

500,000 jobs Americans just can’t do. You would think we are a third world country instead of the greatest country in the world. We dont need even one foreign tech worker.
Agreed. The left tells us there’s not enough high paying jobs for all the college grads, then tell us we need more foreign workers to take the high paying jobs.
The worst part is they dont really save the company any money. The vv in charge of that department gets a bonus for cutting costs, than three years later theyre having to fix the system because the code is crap. It takes twice as long with twice as many errors
This is why I'm suspicious of politicians who are tough on illegal immigration but who are eager to expand guest worker programs - especially when they know full well that those guest workers will bring their wives, children, and extended families in tow.
