Illinois is the test case for Democrat economic and tax policies
American Thinker ^ | 02/22/2019 | Jack Hellner

The new Democrat governor in Illinois, billionaire heir to the Hyatt Hotels fortune J.B. Ptitzker, gave a speech about how grave the budget situation is. He correctly said that the problem had compounded itself for decades, but somehow mostly blamed Republican Governor Rauner, who was in office for four years, for the problems, and didn’t comment at all on the Democrat-controlled legislature.

The governor pointed out that Illinois 2020 budget was $3 billion in the hole with a backlog of $15 billion in unpaid bills. Somehow, his solution was to tax more, with a series of new taxes totaling $1.1 billion. He also wants to tax more in the future by changing our state constitution to allow for a progressive income tax, which he says will be on the “rich,” to get away from what he describes as our current regressive income tax structure, spend more on new and existing programs, spread out payments more on the massively-underfunded pensions and borrow $2 billion to throw into the pension plan.

How does anyone pretend that borrowing money to pay current bills and spreading out the massively underfunded pension plans is an “honest” or balanced budget? I wonder what could go wrong? Or why we are in such a huge mess with people with these viewpoints running cities, states and the federal government throughout the United States?

As far as I can tell all the Democrats running for President say that the U.S. tax code isn’t progressive enough and the rich don’t pay their fair share, even though the rich pay a much higher share of taxes than their share of income. Our new governor shows his economic ignorance by saying our flat tax is regressive.

“Policy”?

The “policy” in Illinois is to make sure that yourself and your buddies can cash in as much as possible, with as few as possible of your circle going to jail.

Too bad there is no GOP here in Illinois. The IL RCC are the geniuses who ran Alan Keyes against Obama for the Illinois Senate seat. The subsequent 8 years of his Presidency are their fault.

That’s why Democrats are hell-bent on getting control in Washington and implementing their plans on a national level. Because only when they neutralize the utility of leaving your state and get their hands on the Fed printing presses can they make these policies seem to work for a time.

That test has had endless iterations. Same result every time. FAILURE, death and destruction of a vibrant civilization.

Pritzker was elected despite dodging real estate taxes by removing toilets from one of his mansions and having the building listed as “uninhabitable” (while actually being in use and inhabited) which resulted in lower assessments. Pritzker also has some of his wealth stashed offshore where it is sheltered from higher rates of taxation.

Illinois makes Venezuela look attractive and competitive by comparison.

As a resident of this socialist shithole called Illinois, your comparison is a gross exaggeration. For now.

There's zero doubt in my mind that Governor McCheese (as I call Pritzker) is an incompetent, bumbling fool who's controlled by Mike Madigan and the gas pedal that controls this state's speed to authoritarian socialism (which is where ALL socialism eventually ends up) has been mashed to the floor.

Pritzker is doing nothing more than Madigan's bidding. Anyone who lives in this socialist shit-hole called Illinois that doesn't see that is a fool.

Does this article mention anywhere that Governor McCheese here in Illinois once pulled 23 of the 25 toilets out of his mansion and had it declared "uninhabitable" to dramatically reduce the property taxes on his multi-multi-multi-million dollar estate?

As with every authoritarian socialist tyrant like Pritzker, it's always "do as I say, not as I do!"
