Moments after Chicago cops laid out their case against Smollett, the CNN pundit made the eyebrow-raising comparison during a conversation with anchor Kate Bolduan.
This is the fall of an icon and I dont think people understand how important he has been in the black community.
Empire as a show, to have him as a beloved character, I think did a great deal to knock back homophobia in the black community, Jones said.
The fact that he has been celebrated and you see homophobia in the black community through his eyes on the show, this is a Jackie Robinson against homophobia.
As for Smollett, 36, he is accused of orchestrating an elaborate hoax involving two "bogus" hate crimes -- one involving an alleged attack, and one involving a threatening letter -- all in order to get a pay raise.
Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Smollett orchestrated a "phony attack" in order to take "advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career" during a press conference on Thursday.

Below are the names and photos of 35 Police Officers who were murdered by the Black Panthers and the subsequent Black Liberation Army in the 60s, 70s and 80s [click link for list and details].
The Black Liberation Army was an organization that grew out of the Black Panther Party, composed of former Black Panther Party members, operating from about 1971-1980. Another two police officers on the list were murdered by the Weather Underground, a domestic terrorist group with ties to the Black Liberation Army.
Despite this readily available information, today the internet was full of articles criticizing those who were upset by Beyonces Super Bowl Halftime performance, and questioning how anyone could be upset over a woman affirming her blackness. Their analysis couldnt have been more off.
We have no issues with someone affirming their blackness or any other identity they want to affirm. We do take issue when people pay homage to a group that used terrorism and violence to promote racism and revolutionary socialism a group that murdered dozens of police officers in cold blood.
As you scroll through the list of officers below, look at their photos and read their stories. Among these officers are black men and white men. Rookies and veterans from across the country. Most were killed in unprovoked attacks and ambushes. They all left behind families .
Perhaps Beyonce, someone from the NFL, and someone representing CBS, could read through this list and tell us if they still stand by their decision to honor the Black Panthers during the Super Bowl. Then perhaps they could explain their answers to the surviving wives and children of these fallen officers. ...

[1960s/original] Black Panther Party [BPP] Archives
From the article: REVOLUTIONARY HEROES
"On May 1st, May Day [1969], the day of the gigantic Free Huey [Newton] rally, two of Alioto's top executioners vamped on the brothers from the Brown Community who were attending to their own affairs. These brothers, who are endowed with the revolutionary spirit of the Black Panther Party defended themselves from the racist pig gestapo [the police].
Pig Joseph Brodnik received his just reward with a big hole in the chest. Pig Paul McGoran got his in the mouth which was not quite enough to off him.
The revolutionary brothers escaped the huge swarm of pigs with dogs, mace, tanks and helicopters, proving once again that "the spirit of the people is greater than the man's technology."
To these brothers the revolutionary people of racist America want to say, by your revolutionary deed you are heroes, and that you are always welcome to our camp."

Not many Black Lives Matter morons would have the initiative to get a poster printed. But it's no mystery where they get the signs that they jab in the air as they chant "What do we want? Dead cops!" The supplier is printed right across the bottom: revcom.us .
'Rev' is for revolutionary.
'Com' is for communist.
Revcom.us bills itself as "the voice of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA." The explicit objective is to overthrow our constitutional republic and replace it with an oligarchical collectivist dictatorship along the lines of North Korea and the Soviet Union.
Why would advocates of a communist police state agitate against the police? Because as leftists used to admit openly, the issue is never the issue. This isn't about the police, any more than it is about blacks. It is about destabilizing the system so as to create opportunities to weaken it and eventually overthrow it.
That's what community organizing boils down to. These people have taken over the executive branch of the federal government; why would they stop there?
The next hill they take will be federal control of local police. After that, things will start to get scary.

"Create Public Opinion, Seize Power: We are preparing minds and organizing forces for the time when there is a major crack in the system, whenever it comes and wherever it comes from: an opening that makes it possible to bring the future Revolutionary Army of the Proletariat (R.A.P.) into the field and wage a revolutionary armed struggle that actually has a chance of winning.
And we have said that building our party itself is the most important part of organizing forces for revolution. This is true now, and it is true looking forward to the creation of that future R.A.P. and the waging of that armed struggle.":

The 1992 LA/Rodney King riots were instigated by the Revolutionary Communist Party...
From David Horowitz's FrontpageMag.com /DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
"Throughout its history, one of RCP's [Revolutionary Communist Party] principal objectives has been to foment civil unrest in the United States. The most notable example of such efforts occurred on April 29, 1992, when RCP members looted and trashed the downtown and government districts of Los Angeles, triggering the infamous Rodney King riots. During the days immediately preceding the violence, RCP -- which maintained close ties to the L.A. gangs known as the Crips and the Bloods -- had circulated throughout South Central Los Angeles a leaflet featuring a statement by RCP National Spokesman Carl Dix, titled 'It's Right To Rebel' -- a quote popularized by Mao Zedong.
Encouraged by Dix, RCP activists helped lead the riots that would leave 58 people dead, more than 2,300 people injured, some 5,300 buildings burned, and $1 billion in property damaged or destroyed. On the ten-year anniversary of the rioting, RCP member Joseph Veale fondly recalled the violence as 'the most beautiful, the most heroic civil action in the history of the United States.'"

No, as I'm just now learning through research, Smollett may be a Red like Van Jones. See my two previous posts on this thread, regarding the Black Panthers and Black Lives Matter movement.
"The New York Times published a feature on Smollett and his family in March 2016. The article described the Smollett children as being raised in the orbit of the Black Panthers. It adds that the family has recently lent their voices to the Black Lives Matter movement."

"Huey Percy Newton (February 17, 1942 August 22, 1989) was an African-American political activist and revolutionary who, along with Bobby Seale, co-founded the Black Panther Party in 1966. He continued to pursue an education, eventually earning a Ph.D. in social philosophy.[1][2] In 1989 he was shot and killed in Oakland, California. ..."
"As a student at Merritt College in Oakland, Newton became involved in politics in the Bay Area. He joined the Afro-American Association (AAA), became a prominent member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, Beta Tau chapter; and played a role in getting the first African-American history course adopted as part of the college's curriculum.
He read the works of Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Frantz Fanon, Malcolm X, Mao Zedong, Émile Durkheim, and Che Guevara.
During his time at Merritt College, he met Bobby Seale, and the two organized the Black Panther Party for Self Defense in October 1966.[3]"

Some of them may not like him in their public statements but have no problem keeping how they really feel about him on the “down low”...
The past three days have been deeply trying for Empire actor, Jussie Smollett, to say the least.
After being brutally attacked by racists early Tuesday (January 29, 2019) morning, an ongoing investigation has resulted in several discoveries, but still no suspects apprehended.
Now, Jussies five siblings and Moms have decided to address the violent attack, as well as what they plan on doing about it going forward.
FYI: Their Mom was an activist and a member of The Black Panther Party back in the day.
So neither she, nor her kids, will simply take this violent racist/homophobic attack against her baby lying down.
never heard of this punk until he decided to ruin his life and career.
Someone told me that Ari Emanuel is his agent, but I haven’t been able to confirm.
That certainly explains alot.
CNN is so pathetic.

Weve spent Mothers Day with Angela...."
"In 1970 Davis was implicated by more than 20 witnesses in a plot to free her imprisoned lover, fellow Black Panther George Jackson, by hijacking a Marin County, California courtroom and taking hostage the judge, the prosecuting assistant district attorney, and two jurors.
In an ensuing gun battle outside the court building, Judge Harold Haleys head was blown off by a sawed-off shotgun owned by Ms. Davis.
To avoid arrest for her alleged complicity in the plot, Ms. Davis fled California, using aliases and changing her appearance to avoid detection.
Two months later, Davis was arrested by the FBI in New York City."

Geez. Jones is much better than that.
[Van] Jones was arrested during the L.A. riots and spent a short time in jail. I met all these young radical people of color, he recalls, I mean really radical: communists and anarchists. And it was, like, This is what I need to be a part of.
I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary....
By the late 1990s, Jones was a committed Marxist-Leninist-Maoist who viewed police officers as the arch-enemies of black people, and who loathed capitalism for allegedly exploiting nonwhite minorities worldwide.
He became a leading member of Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), a now-defunct Bay Area Marxist-Maoist collective that was staffed by members of various local nonprofits, a number of whom had ties to the Ella Baker Center.
In the early 2000s, Jones and STORM were active in the anti-Iraq War demonstrations organized by International ANSWER, a front group for the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party.
STORM also had ties to the South African Communist Party and it revered Amilcar Cabral, the late Marxist revolutionary leader (of Guinea-Bissau and the Cape Verde Islands) who lauded Lenin as the greatest champion of the national liberation of the peoples. (In 2006 Van Jones would name his own newborn son Cabral in Amilcar Cabrals honor.)
