The birth rate by countries in SA and CA aren't that high --
refer here - just around the replacement rate of 2.2 or lower.

I personally like trains. So do I. My son and I took a ride of several days because he wanted to ride The City Of New Orleans. We met some interesting people, including a couple who said that they would often take the train one way and fly the other way. Flying is usually cheaper, but the train (sleeper car) is more entertaining and relaxing.

In Europe, trains are definitely the way to go. Much easier to take a train to Gare du Nord in Paris in the heart of the city, than flying into Charles DeGaulle, which is an hour from downtown.

I like riding on trains too. I’ve ridden them in the US, Germany and China. Having said that there is a point where the dems went from liking trains to being obsessive about them. They are willing to destroy an entire economy for a train. It’s not very rational.

you really expect rational reasons from Democrats?? :)

Italys trains are government controlled. Recently rode a few between Pisa, Florence and Rome and returns. All had cars fairly full. With an abundance of moderately priced taxis at either end, trains can work for these medium couple -of-hour rides.
