Perhaps the biggest blow to the high-speed rail project came in 2010, when Republicans won control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
They proceeded to block any further federal funding for high-speed rail, undermining the California projects financial plan. Ironically, Gov. Newsoms decision to pause high-speed rail comes just as Democrats have retaken the majority in the House, making possible a Green New Deal and billions in high-speed rail funding.
California ought to show the country how to overcome these obstacles. If we believe climate change is real, then we are obligated to do something about it, and not let cost concerns or bureaucratic issues become a justification for giving up and going home while the state and the planet burn.

So do I. My son and I took a ride of several days because he wanted to ride The City Of New Orleans. We met some interesting people, including a couple who said that they would often take the train one way and fly the other way. Flying is usually cheaper, but the train (sleeper car) is more entertaining and relaxing.
In Europe, trains are definitely the way to go. Much easier to take a train to Gare du Nord in Paris in the heart of the city, than flying into Charles DeGaulle, which is an hour from downtown.
I like riding on trains too. I’ve ridden them in the US, Germany and China. Having said that there is a point where the dems went from liking trains to being obsessive about them. They are willing to destroy an entire economy for a train. It’s not very rational.
you really expect rational reasons from Democrats?? :)
Where is the track/construction on this? Was there ever any?
