The forever wrong Andrea Mitchell.
Poles have been complaining for years that they’ve been portrayed as perpetrators of the Holocaust in revisionist circles, based solely on the geographic location of the camps; the fact that they fought and lost a war against Germany in 1939, and were invaded simultaneously from the east by the Soviets, is completely ignored. Poles had no Vichy or Quisling; they were occupied by Nazis and communists throughout the war, and didn’t regain their freedom for nearly half a century afterwards.
The on-air talent only knows what they are told by their crack production staff. The talent is there to look good and make the appropriate serious facial expressions when doing their job. For the females, a nice rack ensures more air time as does good hair for the males. Knowledge of world history??? Not so much...
As much as I enjoyed “Exodus” by Leon Uris, he was one of the first to push this idea that the camps were somehow the Poles fault. He’s quite vicious about it too.
Andrea Mitchell? She needs to publically apologize, then pick out where she wants to retire.
But...but...that’s what my college professor in the US taught me! That’s what the book says..so it must be true!
I love Poland, but what they did to Jews immediately after the war wasn’t pretty, and it wasn’t the Nazis either.
Here in NJ (Jersey City), Poles last year successfully fought to keep a 30 foot+ statue commemorating the Katyn Forest massacre at Exchange Place; the Dem mayor (who happens to be Jewish) wanted to relocate it, and many Poles saw this as part of the re-writing of the history of that period. The President of Poland visited the site, and in the end the Poles prevailed; Polish people have very little patience for this, and understand what is happening all too clearly.
Has anybody seen Andrea Mitchell’s apology??

What did they do?
There were some mass killings of Jews around 1946, 1500 killed. Theories range from the Poles blaming the Jews for the nightmare they were forced to live through to Poles who took Jewish property scared that the Jews would reclaim it.
Richard Cohen, leftist writer, absolutely BLASTED Helen Thomas when she said to the Jews in Israel “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine. ... Go home. Poland. Germany. And America and everywhere else.”
It was one of those columns you never forget, both for how he blasted her and the fact that this little tidbit about Poland seems forgotten in history - but not to Mr. Cohen.

Yep, I’m with you. I certainly didn’t have to go through what they did during WW2, so I don’t run around screaming that they’re a bunch of killers. On the other hand, they’re not quite as ‘pure as the wind-driven snow’ back in that timeframe either.
Can't argue with your statement . . . however, Andrea Mitchell is not only a moronic harpie but she also fails the photogenic test. Just sayin . . .
I fail to see why her remarks are such a big deal. Mitchell has been saying idiotic things her entire career.

The Russians were Poland’s enemies twice, during the same waR! First, they invaded with the Germans in September 1939. Had they not, the vaunted Blitzkreig would have slowed significantly. (The result would unlikely have changed, but certainly would have taken much longer.)
Then, when the Russians had the upperhand on the Eastern Front and were rolling the Germans back the Poles assisted with the Warsaw uprising in August and September of 1944. But the Russians, deliberately halted their movements in Poland while the Germans brutally put down the uprising. This calculated move should never be forgotten.
