Pushed beyond their limits by prolonged waits in dangerous and squalid conditions in parts of Northern Mexico, thousands of caravan members who had been waiting to seek asylum in the United States appear to have given up, Mexican officials said, dealing President Trump an apparent win after a humbling week for his immigration agenda.
About 6,000 asylum seekers who had traveled en masse, many of them in defiance of Mr. Trump’s demands that they turn around, arrived in Northern Mexico in late November as part of a caravan that originated in Honduras. Since then, more than 1,000 have accepted an offer to be returned home by the Mexican government, the officials said. Another 1,000 have decided to stay in Mexico, accepting work permits that were offered to them last fall, at the height of international consternation over how to deal with the growing presence of migrant caravans.

Wow, how bad do things have to be where someone came from for them to describe Tijuana as “pretty”? That said, Mexico is the perfect refuge for these folks and I do wish the non-criminal ones well. Just don’t want them here, however.

Only 9 GOP senators voted against the hideous appropriations bill with restrictions on immigration enforcement. They had the votes to override a veto and Trump reluctantly signed it.
I think we’’l find out in the near future that the week wasn’t near as “humbling” as some would have us believe....

Hope you are right. Dems know that some voters might be swayed by sabotaging border/immigration funding, and they will risk our security hoping to do just that. And the GOP senators who voted for the bill should be ashamed.
Not officially.... yet. I remember a Mexican movie in which Guatemalans snuck in to California, expecting it to look like the USA they saw in magazines, but it looked just like Mexico.
I wouldn’t be surprised if tiendas (stores) in Nuevo Laredo, Juarez or Tijuana accepted EBT cards.
