It's time for all Americans, regardless of their political persuasion, to come together and support our president. Whether you've been for or against him, it's time to admit, he's paid his dues.
He's walked the walk. Like Ronald Reagan, he's been true to his promises and stayed the coarse, despite the daily onslaught of slings and arrows coming from all sides.
Whether you're that fair weather, mostly street dumb fan Ann Coulter, who called him "a lunatic" and "dumb" because he didn't call for a National Emergency months ago, or those whom we cherish, like Laura Ingraham and Rush who called him to hold a "State of the Union" address at a different venue. Trump knew all along what he was going to do. In short, he had a plan, and he stuck to it.
Pelosi and Schumer thought they had boxed him into a corner when he shut down the government, but in reality the shutdown brought the border crisis to the forefront of the news to the point that 60% of Americans recognized the need for a wall.
Pelosi, proud as a peacock, dis-invites him from speaking before congress until he ends the shut down. So, what does he do? He ends the shutdown, and gives the speech of the century, in the best possible arena, shelling it out to the point that he's got both sides standing and cheering him, and afterwards the pundits too.
Anyone listening to the speech would have to agree, that this man believes what he's saying. And that says a lot.
But it gets better.
They think they've trapped him again, by putting together a 1200 page bill full of mind fields and garbage, daring him to veto it. He makes it clear to all that he's displeased, but it does have 1.3 billion dollars above the dollar bill Pelosi offered. So he signs it, knowing that the silly provisions will be good only for a few more months, then gone like the wind.
And when the dems are celebrating, he includes a little doozy, that he's declaring a National Emergency, and right out of the gate he picks up 8 billion, and dares them to fight him.
Adding a cheery to the sundae, he gives a speech in El Paso attended by thousands, who are mostly Latin Americans. Across the street is another socialist dingbat, who draws only a few hundred Mexican Flag waving and Trump Piñata bashers.
Yes, say what you will about this man, but one thing is for sure--Like Grant,he fights. He IS the smartest man in the room, but he does it like a guy who got the top grade in a Dale Carnegie course.
He likes us, and now is the time for all of us to show that we like him. To recognize that he's in this for us, because he loves this country.
Has he made any mistakes? Yes, I can think of two.
1. Appointing Jeff Sessions as AG. The man didn't fight to protect our president, or to go after the true villains and traitors. He was weak, and he allowed for the special counsel. We now all know what a farce that was.
2. Trusting Paul Ryan, and signing the Omnibus Bill without getting his wall fully funded at that time. He was promised that it would be his, during the lame duck session. But it wasn't. Ryan took off, along with dozens of other weak minded elected losers, and went back home to mommy.
OUr president has played the other side and the Never Trumpers, and even those seasoned doubters on this forum who keep losing faith in him, like a 1937 Vintage C. F. Martin Guitar. And like the guitar,
He is truly made in America.
Understand and appreciate your take, but The Donald doesn’t have many, if any real allies to work with.
I for one will go down with him, as he is the last hope we have to see the America our fathers/grandfathers fought for remain a true nation and not a collection of government dependent non contributors...
Beginning of the paragraph spoken as a third generation vet. Grandfather WWI, trenches, Dad Navy medic , Veteran of the shores of Normandy, me Vietnam Era.
The veto would never be overridden. Once Trump publicly identifies the flaws in that bill, no Republican that seeks reelection would vote for it again.
You vastly underestimate the hatred the GOP has for POTUS and those of us who elected him. Richard Shelby is 84 years old. Do you think he cares about facing voters? Romney? Murkowski? Gardner? Collins? Any Trump Wall veto will be easily overridden. Their is no more bipiartisan policy inside the beltway than open borders.
And we’ll see another wave of eff you retirements in 2020 from the GOP. On the Senate side this time. And it will probably throw the Senate to the Dems.
This Dem invasion bill is pure swamp . Signing a bill that lets the Dems speed up the foreign invasion is a sure why to lose 2020.
Yup.
How many MILLIONS will come in unimpeded in the next 7 months.
Who will NEVER leave.
I don’t know what this man must do to get the American people behind him. He’s been true to his word. He’s tried to do everything he said he would do.
He works tirelessly for us. He stands up to everyone, especially the bullies domestically and globally who try and undermine us.
He’s tough, and he wants us to be tough too. He’s throw out a big foot print, and challenges us to follow.
I see where slowly, the GOP are getting it. You see some true believers there, like Graham and even McConnell.
I don’t know where Romney is, and I don’t trust him.
Clearly, the man has earned our respect.
I’M NOT ASKING ANYONE FRIEND OR FOE, FELLOW CONGRESSIONAL PEOPLE, PUNDITS ETC TO KISS HIS HAND, OR TO BLINDLY FOLLOW HIM.
But let’s give the man his due. Let’s stop the daily subjective, phony bashing that is nothing but noise.
We dont elect a king and you need to understand that.
*****************************************************
What I have understood is his rhetoric, which has been, I’m very sad to say, MILES FROM HIS ACTIONS! Did you see the folks behind him the other night? We will go to war with him. He should be calling out every traitor in this party and go to war. We will be FULLY BEHIND HIM and gleefully suffer any short term consequences AS LONG AS WE ARE FIGHTING!!!
He is whimpering away and If DONE IS HE SIGNS THIS BILL.
Have you read this bill’s provisions on immigration?
It’s a DISASTER and against EVERYTHING Trump has EVER campaigned on.
If he signs this he is a hypocrit of the WORST kind.
There are already MILLIONS of central americans who want to come here and WILL DO SO in the next 7 months. They will NEVER go home.
After that a wall WILL NOT MATTER.
Personally, I have never seen anyone, anywhere, stand up against such vile hatred and vicious attacks.
The left is being exposed, bit by bit. It’s delicious to watch. It’s like it is being orchestrated!
I hope Ann Coulter and the likes of her follow Megyn Kelly into obscurity....and I used to admire Ann!
FReepers will follow their general through hell if need be, FLeepers, well, flee what they prefer to call a sinking ship. #NeverTrumpers need to go back to DU where they belong.
btw, I do not worship president Donald J. Trump, but I do worship the One that placed him in the position of leadership and believe that he is in a place to slow down the global takeover of our sovereign nation.
These Rinos, if nothing else, are office clingers and will vote conservative as and when it advantages them and abandon us as and when it advantages them. I believe they are selfish enough to understand where their interests lie when their vote can utterly rupture the party and their own future.
As for a mass defection of septuagenarian and octogenarian Republican senators in the upcoming cycle, that cloud definitely has a silver lining. It is an opportunity to advance serious conservative candidates to clean house (or in this case, Senate) and to fight Mitch McConnell in that essential endeavor tooth and nail.
But let's assume that you are correct, the president vetoes the CR, his veto is overridden, so what? We are in effect in the same place we would be if the president had signed the CR except that this pig would not wear the president's lipstick and the political defection of the base would be avoided. Concededly, the president will suffer damage to his prestige at home and raise questions about his ability to govern abroad.
Those considerations are of no weight when compared to the engulfing of America by a wave of foreigners who will vote leftist and perhaps socialist for as far as the eye can see. The Republican Party, as we would like in our dreams to think that it exists, would exist no more. It will now become a rump party of a few Rinos in a few geographically isolated pockets.
A patriot knows what happens next.
Out of the thousands of people roaring for Trump at his rally the other night, give me a percentage that would be happy with this bill and want him to sign it?
I say the percentage is zero. So whose side is Trump on?
A YUUUUGE +1
Well said
Amen to that.
These Rinos, if nothing else, are office clingers and will vote conservative as and when it advantages them and abandon us as and when it advantages them.
The RINOs retired enmass and surrendered the House to the Dems without a fight. There is no more bipartisan issues inside the beltway than open borders and wanting Trump to lose in 2020.
GOP doesn’t want a wall. GOP doesn’t want POTUS to get reelected. So they send another stinking pile of garbage to the WH and put the shut down gun to his head. Without the support of his own party there just isn’t a reason to grind his administration to a halt with endless shut downs. He shut down the government for 35 days and got exactly nothing out of it. There is no evidence another shut down will change that.
So VETO it and put the onus for this stinking pile of crap where it belongs, CONGRESS.
Yep. It’s a garbage bill. After 35 days of shut down. I see no evidence POTUS will ever get anything better out of Congress. The GOP doesn’t want a wall and so we won’t have it.
The bill is like a week old dead rat .
