Amazon announced Thursday it was turning back on its plans to build its second headquarters in New York City, a company spokesman said in a statement. The move comes after backlash from lawmakers, notably Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who bemoaned the project.
"After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens," the Seattle-based Amazon said in the release.

The WHOLE POINT of a second headquarter is to gradually relocate out of tax-happy California without being accused of fleeing and I guess they just now figured out that New York is just as tax-thirsty.

Bezos and his team are leftist until it hurts the bottom line or their ability to manage how they seem fit. Amazon NYC was going to unionize ASAP and that was a big sticking point. There was a NYC council man on Cavutos Fox business show the other day and he said as much. “Amazon doesn’t share our NYC values” blah blah blah blah blah.
Amazon is headquartered in Seattle, not California.

Next stop will be Virginia
Amazon is already in Virginia, in Herndon, Ashburn, Chantilly, Sterling, Winchester, Springfield and probably other places. Just last fall they announced another 25,000 jobs in Arlington, VA for HQ2. A lot of those workers will choose to live in DC and ride the metro to work.
Virginia might turn red again if the voters remember the current dimocrat mess in Richmond on election day.
Imagine how many rich socialists who had inside knowledge on Amazon HQ2, thus bought land in anticipation of that, and just got their ass handed to them. Glorious!
Socialism would be to subsidize the company, which is what the plan was.

How about we have politicians who are pro-market, instead of taking sides?
