It would appear we are fleeing California like it’s on fire (which, actually, it literally is lately); only large quantities of “foreign” people moving into one area typically disrupt culture and incite hatred like that. Yet San Francisco rent continues to lead the nation based on white-hot demand. This doesn’t really make sense.
Let me offer a snapshot of San Francisco in 2018:
A friend is having a birthday party at a funky dive bar in the Mission and has invited you. Despite the ostensibly blue-collar aesthetic, you pay $14 for a cocktail containing house-made lavender syrup and organic gin. You lean against a vintage pinball machine, a shrine to the predigital adolescence half the people in the bar never had, and proceed to make small talk with the other guests, asking, “Where are you from?”

It’s pretty common now in Boston to meet California transplants. Something I could never imagine in my youth. I’m not talking about corporate execs who are always on the move. These people are pharmacists, bartenders and waitresses. It was 0 degrees in Boston 2 weeks ago.

No, its not that hordes of other Americans are moving to California. They aren’t. Companies in San Francisco complain all the time that they can’t get the talent they need to move there. You socialist Gaia Worshiping nanny staters ruin every single last thing you touch. Yet you NEVER get it. So you just move to another place and immediately set about trying to ruin it too. THAT’s why you’re hated. You just refuse to learn.

Yep. There is a California transplant working at a dollar general in the Jacksonville, FL area with a big “Madera” tattoo on his arm. Good guy. He said a lot of people comment on his tattoo.

Yeah, that’s a lot to read when the author could have summed it up by simply stating “People are leaving because it’s turned into a Socialist/Progressive $hithole”.

Young people have been rotating in and out of SF since the ‘60s. Fifty years. Nothing new here. What’s new is the corporate buses mass transporting workers down to Silicon Valley from SF. That has party changed the character of the city and vastly increased the young professional or whatever you want to call it population.

The irony here is what the article articulates in every way “the why” people don’t like CA people.

Yup. They are so intolerant and hateful that conservatives are loathe to go where they are (i.e. the big cities) because who wants to live under the thumb of an oppressive government surrounded be people who will spit on you if you tell them what you beleive? So the cities and blue states remain safe if conservative "antibodies" coming in to fight their infestation off. But they are comfortable going where they aren't wanted and changing it to their own desired despotic image.
It's a problem, the ratchet of leftism only goes in one direction: more, in more places. Eventually they ratchet snaps but by then its too late, people are starving in the streets or being marched off to firing squads.
