Trump’s Hint to Increase Legal Immigration, Automation Dooms American Workers
Breitbart ^ | 2/13/19 | John Binder

President Trump’s hint that he will increase legal immigration levels and a pending automation doomsday that lawmakers have yet to regulate threatens millions of America’s working and middle class workers.

This week, Trump reiterated for the third time in a few weeks that he believes the U.S. should be increasing already historic levels of legal immigration — where more than 1.2 million legal immigrants are admitted every year at the expense of American taxpayers who are forced to subsidize the scheme through depressed wages and fewer job prospects

Correct, he said that in all of his 100+ rallies. He said there will be a big door open for LEGAL immigrants. Trump keeps his promises after getting elected. He is a rare politician.

Increased legal immigration, as long as it is controlled leads to orderly increased supply of labor, which increases the degree of division of labor, which leads to increased productivity of labor. Also, increases in labor saving devices leads to increased productivity of labor.

Which leads to decreased/depressed wages and socialism. Capitolism spared across a border-less world leads to fascism and/or socialism.

Current LEGAL immigration system is horse manure. It does not require skills, education, wealth or knowledge of English. All one needs is to be sponsored by another immigrant relative in US. It is called chain migration system. Most of these LEGAL immigrants end up on gov’t handouts.

Trump wants merit based legal immigration. Quite different that current system.

When are Americans going to wake up to the fact that we must be able to compete with others? Not only in our products but also in our producers.

Look at the skills and attitudes of our college graduates, let alone their idiot professors & administrators. We moan & complain about “cheap foreign labor” and condemn our manufacturers, yet we willingly flock to Black Friday Sales.

Cheap imported labor was the temporary solution to picking cotton. Then John Daniel Rust invented the first practical spindle cotton picker in the late 1930s. Automation eliminated nearly all of those cotton picking jobs, yet I’ve never heard anyone complain about their loss.

If we Americans aspire to be great, then we must teach more wisely, study more attentively and work more effectively than other nations. Instead, we have become a touchy-feely, “gimme-dat” nation - all of us, from ghetto welfare recipients to WASP college critters to Corporate bigwigs to politicians, Hollywood, and the media.

Textile mills moved from New England to the South in search of less expensive Labor. Later they moved to Developing Countries for the same reason. Now many of those workers in the Developing Countries are assembling sophisticated electronic equipment and consumer goods.

Later, Swiss & German textile machinery manufacturers, looking for less expensive labor, moved their manufacturing plants to the old textile mill areas of the South, like the Greenville-Spartanburg, SC region. South Carolina COMPETED with Switzerland and German for jobs and WON. Now BMW and Michelin manufacture there.

If I want to sell my labor to a prospective employer, I have to demonstrate that his cost for my productivity & quality is less than that of another worker. I can do this by several means:

Charge less wages.
Produce more per unit of time.
Produce higher quality products which command a higher price in the market.
Produce unique things that no one else can.

Or a combination of all of the above.

Agreed. We need time to assimilate the millions here now.

We need to start planning for primary challengers in the Republican party.

The list of ideals of the primary candidates should include:

—Fiscal responsibility and a tax policy to promote growth;
—Immigration policy: to include a moratorium, a Wall, eVerify, laws making sanctuary cities/areas/states 100% illegal and loss of ALL federal funds;
—Bill of Rights for the unborn—especially those who would otherwise be viable outside of the womb;
—Defund NPR and standup a government network that espouses American ideals and history;
—Gun Owners Bill of Rights and judicial commitment to the Constitutional guarantee of those Rights;
—Complete overhaul of the Judicial Branch including judge term limits, breakup of large US districts into more common sense sizes (I’m looking at YOU 9th Circus!) and an end to nationwide injunctions from a single judge;
—Constitutional Amendment baring a Socialist America and also a Sharia America.

The Koch Bros, SillyKorn Alley and the Chamber of Commerce wants merit based legal immigration to depress what collar wages. Just expand the current screw job H-1B visa.

Fixed it.

In last 2 years, people have more jobs, 5 million don’t require food stamps, consumer confidence is high, stock market is high, all this in spite of 2.5 legal immigrants admitted in 2 years.

Whenever I read articles about the impact of legal immigration on U.S. citizens, the first thing that comes to mind is this idiotic scene from a "Black Lives Matter" protest in San Diego a few years ago:

Protesters Block I-5 Freeway

This is just one of many video clips of this incident that you can find all over the internet.

The symbolism of this jumped out at me, and perfectly captures the essence of what this country has become ... a bunch of white and black knuckleheads blocking a highway, and a crowd of people commuting to work -- including mostly Asian and Latin American immigrants -- telling them to get the hell off the road.

I'd love to hire only American-born workers. But anyone who tells me I should hire an @sshole blocking a highway over an immigrant who just wants to get to work is out of his f#%&ing mind and really ought to think hard about what this country even means anymore.

One advantage India has in a global economy is that its educated people learn in English. They may speak it with a heavy accent, but (and this is really pathetic) they generally read and write English better than your typical U.S.-born STEM graduate.

Yes, in border-less world the American Worker is screwed. You can’t dissolve borders at your convenience for greed and profit. WE HAVE BORDERS! If you border-less globalist robber-barons keep it up you will end up on the wrong end of a rope.

H1-B visa are TEMPORARY visa workers. Not the same as legal chain migrants we import by the million EVERY YEAR without testing for skills, wealth or English, and majority depend on gov’t handouts and vote democrat. H1-B visa workers can’t vote here.

Nice sentiment on your part, but no longer valid.

Democrat Designed Legal Immigration + Welfare State = Death Sentence

I used to believe that, but not anymore.

I'm convinced that the biggest factor driving U.S. immigration policy is the desire of these business interests to import more consumers, not workers.

There are large swaths of this country where the only people buying homes are recent immigrants. You don't think the banking industry has already noticed what poor business prospects American-born people are?

Nobody enforces H-1B visa rules. There are tons of u-tube videos on how to go around every provision and regulation. Why it must be killed!

Your chart is good but ends during Obama period. Currently wages are going up under Trump with many more people working.
