Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he plans a floor vote on the Green New Deal resolution proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and endorsed by many congressional Democrats. McConnell wants Senate Democrats to go on record on this radical proposal. He especially wants those running for president and those who may face tough reelection campaigns in 2020 to do so.
Would such a vote be a stunt? You could call it that, but you could also use the same word to describe a great many votes in both chambers.
The Green New Deal is a big deal, potentially. I see no reason why the Senate shouldnt express its view of the idea.
Ocasio-Cortez responded to McConnell by saying, in effect, bring it on. She stated:
[McConnell] is trying to bully the party and hes banking on people not being courageous. I think people should call his bluff.

Roll Call Vote! Love it!
Even Markey and Gillibrand are opposed to getting this on to a vote. LOLOLOL!!!!
Schumer will try hard to get this off the books UNTIL THE COW FARTS COME HOME!!!!
Where did he find them balls?
Be happy he has found them for now! It may not last!
Rope a dope (AOC)
Maybe a roll call vote will shut up some of the loonies for a while.
Or it will push the loonies to the farthest left ever. Either way, it’s a win!
I totally hope people call his bluff too... and that the RNC and various think tanks get to work fact-checking this thing as well as running the numbers for how much it will cost and how it will otherwise impact the economy.
I also hope that GOP oppo research people get busy in light of the mess in Virginia. It is clear that someone was asleep at the switch there. It seems unlikely that the problem would be confined to Virginia, and it is astounding that any place so close to DC would be lacking adequate oppo reseach.
I think the Dems will all vote for it and some of the GOP left wing may do so too. This could backfire badly unless McConnell is sure of whats going on out there.
Thirty braindead Democraps sponsored Sen Markey's bill and assembled to support AOC's laughable rollout of the Green Dream.
Now Mitch McConnell is holding their feet to the fire....calling for a vote.
Prime sponsor, Sen Markey (at right in pic---and other Democrats?), are running for cover......
to avoid casting a vote on AOCs creepy Green Deal....to turn America into another starving, Third-World socialist/fascist failed state.
Democrats manage to win by lying about their real beliefs and intentions. The gross Green Deal removes their masks, and it is an
incredibly ugly face that greets Americans.....the beginning of the end of the Democrats' savage quest to regain the levers of power.
Right on!
glad to see McConnell doing his part!
our master Presidential troll is already taking these fools to the cleaner on twitter regarding the GND, but I would just LOVE to see him run some very early 2020 campaign TV ads RIGHT NOW that would slam the shite out of the GND by listing what’s actually in it ...
such ads this early would also be totally outside of the box, once again break all the “rules”, and seize all initiative from the Dems and their lapdog media in defining the issues ... such early ads would sew chaos, confusion, panic, and outrage, AND create even MORE exposure for such nutty proposals ...
the GND is even MORE of a winning issue than illegal immigration because it’s simple to understand and so obviously insane that not a single point is rationally defensible ...
There will be many many absent senators or senators voting, as Obama did so often, “Present”.
All or almost all will vote no. So Im not sure whats being accomplished here. Those who are on record now saying they support it will be able to say I voted against it. Its a do over for them.
Maybe, but light is the best disinfectant.
I think the Dems will all vote for it and some of the GOP left wing may do so too.

That nitwit Romney immediately popped into mind.
He can’t do that! The only way we can pass it is if we never, ever vote.
