Outgoing Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) warned in a USA Today op-ed on Monday that the GOP "seems stuck in the 1950s."
Kasich, who is considering running for president in 2020 after a failed bid in 2016, also said Republicans haven't learned from their losses in the midterm elections.

Okay, I get it. You are just kinda clueless or something. Tell James Dean, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe that nobody obsessed over them in the 50s . . . uh, can you say Elvis Presley? Do you just make up all your facts as you go along?
well, gee, what happened in the 50’s - oh yes, after saving the world from the Nazis, Americans turned their industrial prowess on manufacturing the machinery that would begin to feed and finance the world in less than 10 years. Women earned social standing as workers in their own right as well as recognition of their right to work where and for whom they chose. Children were allowed a childhood and rights under divorce. In the 50’s we rebuilt Europe and changed forever the quality of life in America. Because of expanded trade, the pursuit of happiness was never easier to achieve. The arts flourished and the world started to blossom. In the 50’s, the America that God Blessed, became not only a beacon of freedom but the most powerful nation on earth. We even thought about going to the moon
So Kasich can stick it in his ear.
We’d be so lucky to be in 1950s America.
And the mailman’s son can eat a bag of sh*t and choke...
“Adapt to it or get swept in the ashes of history.”
There is the adapt word again.
Again, how do you propose Republicans adapt?
What do Americans have to give up? The Constitution?
Language? Liberty? Individuality?
The Mailman is stuck in the 1950s. He thinks he’s Ike, with hair, but without the smile. Or the brains. Or the charisma. or . . . .
Im sure most of America was lying awake at night wondering what Ike would do next.../s
This man has lost his way.
Isn’t this idiot gone already?
Who cares?!?!?!!
Republicans need to adapt to the fact that the nuclear family in America is declining, you have two women and two men raising families.
Deal with it.
In his first month, Trump signed two bills designed to help women, INSPIRE, encouraging women to pursue STEM degrees and Promoting Women in Entrepreneurship which enables the Nat Sci Foundation to support and recruit women inventors.
Later in 2017 he signed "Women, Peace and Security Act" wherein the US will promote women being involved in peace negotiations and conflict prevention overseas.
At every rally he's talking about more women coming into the workforce and low female unemployment.
John Kasich is stuck up his own ass. Pity? Nah.
What about Virginia under the Democrats John? Are they stuck in 20s when EVERY Democrat was a RACIST?
Americans weren’t as obsessed with Dean, Sinatra, and Monroe as they are now with Timberlake, Cher, Rihanna, and Cardi B.
Celebrities are crucial in politics now and they shift it now.
He does have a point.
This is not the 1950s White Leave it to Beaver America anymore.
Women do NOT want to be at home.
They are millions of working women who juggle and balance home and work.
The Republicans need to adapt to this. Whites will only be 66% of the electorate in 2
Please provide the administration initiatives or lack thereof to which you are referring? This makes no sense to me.
Are you referring to President Trump’s campaign slogan MAGA?
Perhaps you are referring to SOTU speech when President Trump talked about FAMILY PARENTAL LEAVE ACT where BOTH men and women have the opportunity to take time off to bond with their new BABY? I think that is a great idea. And that works to support your second rather obvious point that “They are millions of working women who juggle and balance home and work.” So what? How does GOP not support that?
Women do NOT want to be at home? Oh, and you have done surveys on this?? Uh, I think it would be much safer and wiser to say that some women WANT to stay home; some do NOT...Some women can stay home, some can’t...
Not sure about whom you are speaking, but certainly not for millennial women I know...They actually WANT to be home to raise the kids for as long as they can or they deem necessary.
What exactly does GOP need to adopt?
And what does ‘this” (whatever that means) have to do with “Whites being only 66 % of the electorate in 2020???” Are you saying that wanting to be at home is a “White” thing?
Feel free to speak for yourself, but please don’t speak for me or all women...
I would counsel Kasich that adapting includes getting over his unseemly hatred of the President. I think this hatred is mostly caused by the fact that Kasich and his ilk always ran their soup coolers promising things that they didn’t get done. They were apparently more worried about playing nicely with democrats than they were about doing the right thing and keeping their promises. President Trump coming along and getting things done quickly without worrying about the democrats feelings makes the Kasich types look like the gutless, short sighted fools that they always were. There were a bunch of moderate, Kasich approved republicans running in 2016. Thankfully, they all lost. I think that Kasich should is stuck in the 1990s. He needs to realize that we can’t go back to that either. I hope Kasich does run in 2020. That sanctimonious moron deserves to be ridiculed and humiliated again.
There are those who still allow the lies, distortions and propagandas of the enemy define themselves and their beliefs.
The enemy says we are this therefor that is what we are.
In truth and in all functional reality, such persons belong to the enemy.
What I mean is that it is not really White Bread America anymore.
The demographics are changing and Trump and the GOP needs to adjust and adapt, QUICKLY.
good post
Celebrities shift politics? They may create a backlash when they spout off about politics, but I dont think anyone looks to them for guidance.
Blacks were 10% of the population. The status of blacks in the 1950s did not define the entire decade for the USA, as much some want to pretend that it did.
There huge positives during that decade.
