President Trump said Monday that Democrats are now in control of whether there will be a government shutdown at the end of the week, saying their last-minute demands to detain fewer illegal immigrants are poisoning negotiations.
The president also announced his administration had begun building a “big, big” new section of border wall, as he pressed Congress for more money to keep construction going, and to sustain the ability of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain illegal immigrants.
Standing with sheriffs at the White House, Mr. Trump read out a list of crimes committed by illegal immigrants detained in recent years, and said Democrats’ demand for a limit to detention space would mean they would end up American streets.
“They don’t want to give us the space to detain murderers, criminals, drug dealers, human smugglers,” the president said.
He was asked if there would be a shutdown Friday, when current stopgap funding runs out.
“That’s up to the Democrats,” the president said.

President Trump is about to take the Liberal fascists to the wood shed. For all of them it will be a first time experience, which is why they are being so stupid.
After he is finished with them, they will know next time what the crack of the Presidential whip truly means in terms of his exercise of presidential constitutional duty.

Trump’s approval rating will go right back down if there is a shutdown.
Shutdown’s accomplish nothing but give Govt. workers extra paid vacation and the people always blame Republicans.
Just Declare a National Emergency and keep the Govt. open.

The Libs tried to poo poo President Trump’s SOTU and it’s come back to bite them, that and the Dems abysmal behavior is the reason for his 52% approval rating.
President Trump, enough already. You gave them a chance.
Declare a national emergency and build the wall.

Agree! An emergency declaration will immediately be challenged in court and there are some Repubs warning against it. But the Government Shutdown will produce more of the crying stories out there and the airline nightmare stories will surface again.....
Please, Mr. President, declare a national emergency = it is one.

2. Adjourn Congress
3. Declare National Emergency.
4. Reconvene Congress sometime in May in Anchorage.
Sign off on Senate bill to keep government open. Appropriate the funds however you can. Tell the Dem led congress to piss off.
Claim victory. And start building the wall the very next day.
Like they did during the last two shutdowns under the Trump Presidency?
Why is his approval at 52% then? Shouldn't they be in the single digits?

Wrongo...another shutdown places
this smelly hot potato squarely in
the Rats’ lap. Trump has given them
numerous chances to get what more than
50% of the voters demand. This isn’t
Trumps wall, It’s OUR wall! It’s the
Dems who threw the monkey wrench into
the latest negotiations.
Of course they did - I figured they would add a poison pill or two so trump had a choice of standing tough or pissing off his base while giving them the upper hand for the future...they probably have fake “sufferers” waiting in the wings to tell their tales of woe the second the next shutdown begins....they still hope it will help them but i don’t see it being to their advantage as they flail harder .
