LA City Hall may remove carpets amid downtown typhus outbreak

Los Angeles officials are potentially exploring ripping out all the carpet at City Hall amid reports of the building being overrun by rats and fleas as a typhus outbreak plagues the downtown area.

Council President Herb Wesson, who filed the motion Wednesday and at one point moved his staff to another location over the rodent infestation, also asked officials to investigate the “scope and vermin of pest control issues.” He cited a case involving a city employee who possibly contracted the flea-borne illness while at work.

“Employees shouldn’t have to come to work worried about rodents,”

...

The California Department of Public Health first reported the flea-borne typhus outbreak in L.A. County in October and said that the affected area included large parts of downtown where homeless populations sleep, including Skid Row. It said it had recorded 167 confirmed cases in 2018.

...

The illness is spread by fleas that have been infected by rats and other vermin, and can cause high fever, chills, headache and rashes. It also tends to circulate in areas with heavy trash accumulation.

What other diseases are we willing to import to spur sacrifice on the altar of political correctness?

Yeah, because it was caused by the carpet. That’ll stop it.

Typhus? Are we sure we are in an industrialized nation and it is XXI century? That might be some really advanced form of cultural enrichment. Bubonic plague to follow soon.

Don’t stop with the carpets. Destroy the whole building. Then AOC could take credit for the first building to come down as per her “green” proposal unveiled today.

No word on how these patients are being treated - isolated/quarantined I hope when they go to the ER. Who takes them? But kind of late then, isn’t it? By the time the diagnosis is made, those critters are spread throughout the emergency personnel and what stops it from infecting the entire hospital?

If I’m not mistaken, it was a new building in DC that was built or renovated for Elizabeth Warren’s favorite project - Consumer Protection blah blah agency that was so infested with vermin and toxins, the employees were unable to work in it.

I got the name of the agency wrong....it’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Unlike politicians, we underlings like to get our facts right...Didn’t mean to turn this into a Warren thread....but speaking of “pests”, couldn’t help it!!

https://kbzk.com/cnn-national/2019/02/07/elizabeth-warren-fast-facts/

“””September 17, 2010 – US President Barack Obama appoints Warren as assistant to the president and special adviser to the Treasury secretary in order to launch the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

July 2011 – Due to opposition from Republicans and some Democrats, Obama declines to nominate Warren as permanent director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

August 1, 2011 – Warren steps down as a special adviser to Obama.

September 14, 2011 – Warren announces she’s running for Senate in Massachusetts.””

Get a commercial ozone machine and use it. the fleas will be dead and the rats will flee or die too. A small ozone machine is a good way to keep rodents out of buildings. We do it here in the tornado shelter and tree house.

Heavy ozone will kill animals. turns back to 02 in 10 minutes.

Just spread out some newspaper. Perhaps — just maybe — the denizens of L.A. can be housebroken.

I read somewhere that another deadly “ancient” disease is coming over the border with the illegals: smallpox.
