Henry Louis Gates, Jr., despite his infamy over the Boston cop affair during BO's administration, is actually a first class genealogist, one of the best in the country.

He helped find a key ancestor of one famous Black celebrity (I don't recall exactly who) who was emancipated by his Virginia owner in the 1820s in return for a small share in a blacksmith business whom he helped set up beside the National Road (roughly present day US 40).

The investment paid off handsomely for both former slave and owner. The one blacksmith shop grew into a chain of at least nine known shops and was highly profitable as traffic grew.

Instead of being proud of being a descendant of such a go-getter, the celeb was livid with anger, choosing to believe all of his ancestors were oppressed field hands rather than mainly descendants of a highly successful blacksmith who provided employment for scores of newly freed slaves over his lifetime.

But we all know it’s ridiculous to go back to what a kid did when he was 19 and dressed up in a costume.
Which to me brings up a whole new issue.
Why can’t a white kid dress up like a black rapper?
Would it be ok for a black guy to dress up like Elvis or Springsteen?
Why the double standard ?

Oliver Hardy and Al Jolson both wore blackface during their careers. My son wore blackface on MLK’s birthday and recited his “I have a dream” speech before his entire class, all of them lily white. He was ten years old.

Think about the timing. All this sudden concern over ancient acts of racism by Democrats is a ploy to distract the people from the infanticide issue. Infanticide is so important to them that several of their own are being forced to sacrifice their careers in an effort to take it out of the headlines.
