Well then, you may as well add: Virginia Republicans, the party of Sheer Incompetence!
There is absolutely NO excuse for them not catching any of this!
That’s exactly what I was thinking. I too don’t know anyone who would think to d blackface.
They are all over themselves trying like ‘H’ to cover up the murder of children proffered by the Democrat Governor of Virginia by the use of black face, sexual harassment, and KKK. It’s the whole party. One makes a serious screw up as did Northam, they all join in from everywhere to try to divert attention, spin, or cover up. It’s the Democrat way.
Richard O., a lobbyist friend of mine, was a Democrat for many years and a steady and substantial donor to the Florida Democratic party and its candidates. In that capacity, he got to know quite a few of Florida's Democratic leaders and public officials. To his surprise, he repeatedly heard disparaging jokes and comments against Black people, even from supposedly dedicated liberals.
The casual private racism of Democrat leaders and politicians long grated on my friend due to his unusual background. Although White with a thick Georgia accent, he had been raised by a Black family who took him in when his mother died and his natural father's family shunned him due to his mother having been a prostitute. My friend regarded that Black family as his true family because of their love and devoted care for him.
When the Florida Legislature went Republican, my lobbyist friend happily switched parties and donated to the state GOP. After all, he was conservative, and his experience was that Republicans were not racists. Indeed, the few times that he heard racist comments in private at gatherings of Republicans, the comments were swiftly rebuked by those present.

Right then he spilled the beans by admitting he opted not do a “Full”blackface for the Michael Jackson contest. How would he know it was hard to remove if he hadn’t put it on and tried to remove it before?

And they are eager to demonstrate that they can equal any of the Left in their zeal to embrace it.
The late Larry Auster used to describe this as the behavior of ‘confused liberals’ who were drawn to the reality based lack of cant of conservatives, but who refuse to give up some favorite liberal agenda item that has created a mess out of American society. And anything dealing with race is at the top of that list.
They don’t see that the civil rights legislation that they celebrate with religious fervor effectively created government thought policing. Which doesn’t stop at race. And they are confused when that eventually results in gay marriage becoming the law of the land, or of a baker and a pizza joint getting sued into oblivion by the government. Compulsory social engineering is the spawn of that law.
Two who did foresee this vast expansion government intrusion into the everyday lives of Americans were Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. My bet is that Hannity and Glenn Beck would be aghast to learn that those two opposed the Civil Rights Act, since they somehow believe that bill to be the high water mark of GOP genius.
Alas, your son will be consigned to outer darkness, where the worm dieth not and there is wailing and the gnashing of teeth.
Hell most Freepers would be aghast to learn that and that neither thought MLK was the second coming
Nobody cares about it. Only the life long politicians, because everything to them is all about govt giving you permission or condeming you.
The Republican party in Virginia is controlled by idiots. They constantly drive away native Virginians with their ignorance of history and outrageous statements. Thinking they will pick up more minority voters. In reality they lose more whites to the Dems. The Gop is a collection of incompetent idiots.
Forget about tearing down all those racist confederate statues in Virginia. Tear down all those racist politicians.
When Jefferson died it was illegal to emancipate slaves who would stay in the state. So she was not freed.
