People who own yachts have lots of things to worry about. Is a yacht a good financial investment? (Usually not.) Will a group of class-warfare-waging rascals untie the boat from its dock, causing thousands of dollars in damage? (If you're Betsy DeVos, yes.)
And then there's the latest concern plaguing superyacht owners: Is a yacht really a good place to store an art collection, which is worth more than the yacht itself?
A growing number of billionaires -- at least three, which is a lot since there are currently only 2,208 billionaires in the world -- are finding that storing art on superyachts comes with its own set of problems, according to a new report by the Guardian. In one case, a billionaire's children damaged a Basquiat painting by throwing cornflakes at it, and the crew added to the damage by trying to wipe the cereal off. Another yacht was the site of an unfortunate incident involving a champagne cork and a multimillion-dollar painting. On another, crew members having a pillow fight accidentally broke a £75,000 lamp. Those issues seem less related to yachts than to human behavior, but what do I know, I don't own a yacht
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the news that the superrich were not only buying yachts worth hundreds of millions of dollars but filling said yachts with art worth hundreds of millions of dollars and then accidentally damaging that art was not received well. “People are using GoFundMe to beg for insulin while this is happening in the same time and place,” tweeted Rep. This was a great success in Venezuela if you define success as hunger, oppression, no medical care and most importantly the “knock on the door at night” that takes you away. I am not a millionaire but have net worth of that. I got to this status by the jobs listed in my tagline. Each one of those jobs was given to me by a millionaire.
Millionaires and Billionaires do not just sit on their piles of money. They are investors and entrepreneurs. They risk their money in new enterprises and businesses. Sometimes they make great profits and sometimes they lose their money. Most importantly it is their money! They created the jobs that I had. They are not the bad guys. Dell computers started in Micheal Dells father’s garage. “Aint” America Great!
If you dislike strong wind, and if you dislike relentless pounding in choppy water or rough surf, don’t spend your hard earned money on beach property or beautiful boats!
Billionaires are to bums what Einstein is to aoc. Get used to desparity of resources broad.

If you can afford a 100+ million dollar yacht you can afford a climate controlled art gallery on board.

The billionaire’s kids were smart, they knew it’s not actually possible to “damage” a Basquiat.
They probably improved it.
Can’t recall specifics but I read an article where some millionaires were talking to a security specialist about the feasibility of rationing and keeping personal access to their food supply so that their guards would stay loyal after a collapse.
As I recall, the specialist told them the rich people would have to cooperate or lose out.
Well they won’t last long, that’s for sure.
Go for the boat. It seems then you’ll have millions in paintings too!

Now why would they want to keep portable wealth so very portable like that? Paranoid much? What, do they have diamonds sewn into the linings of their suit coats, too? Just a tad paranoid, for some strange reason.
