Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax denies sexual assault claim, amid political storm

Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax issued a forceful pre-dawn denial on Monday to an allegation of sexual assault that surfaced after 15 years, in the latest political bombshell to rock Richmond where Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam is battling resignation calls over a racist photo from his medical school yearbook.

Fairfax, who would be next in line for governor should Northam bow to pressure and resign, called the allegation “defamatory” and “false.”

“Lt. Governor Fairfax has an outstanding and well-earned reputation for treating people with dignity and respect,” the statement from his office read. “He has never assaulted anyone—ever—in any way, shape, or form.”

Larry, I think there are other forces at work here. This looks like the work of the same people who torpedoed the Senate race in AL. My cynical side thinks that someone else - but more probably the same people as before - have been using the NSA database and doing deep SQL queries on Northam and Fairfax. Hope I am wrong, but my gut tells me something like this has happened. Either it is someone on the GOP side, or it is an internal battle on the left. Notice how the previous governor - forget his name - has been so honorably and so quickly calling on Northam to resign? He’s probably tied at the hip to the contractors on the left who got their grimy little paws on the NSA database. Perhaps Northam and Fairfax have not been willing - or can't be trusted - to play ball with something they are needing them to do. The Virginia AG is perhaps their guy they are making this play for?

How key is this Governorship to anything going on with Trump and the legal battles?

And let me guess- They didn't know where or when it happened; they didn't have any physical evidence; the named witnesses denied it ever happened; and the accuser kept it to herself until the perpetrator was about to get a big promotion.
