What the mainstream media won't show you: The Border Wall IS Being Built...
video at link
Looks like a construction project of a tall steel slatted fence in progress somewhere on the border.
Posted as a separate thread for Hoosiermama.
Any bases nearby? Maybe some could be stationed there
We have national guard who are trained truck drivers. Could they be used to transport material?
New secure fences/walls whatever have been going up in sections since shortly after President Trump was sworn in. Many areas had chain link fence or vehicle barriers. The new secure fence that has been/is going up is using money that was funded for repair/replace existing fence. It is great and is ongoing, not sure where this video was taken but I think the next project is in Yuma starting March or April. Not a moment too soon the fence recently dug under by illegals near Yuma simply moving sand under it is being replaced. When that money was approved by Congress it had a stipulation it cannot be used for new fence, only to replace or repair existing fence. And liberals claim it is not a wall so Trump should get no credit. I don’t know how to post pictures here but hoping someone will post a picture of vehicle barrier next to this type of fencing to show the vast improvement! To me it is a wall! Border Patrol said what they consider a wall is a secure fence like this one, that also uses technology and is patrolled. BP originally stated that they did not want any type of solid barrier on the border because they needed to see through the structure for their own safety from attacks or to spot people gathering up on the other side to cross just after a patrol goes by.
Where I live there is no real border fence, just a barb wire cattle fence. The money for repair/replace cannot be used to put a secure fence in areas like this where fencing has not been built. Money for any real fence here has to be obtained separately. So those of us here and in AZ that still have barb wire cattle fence for border fence are continuing to fight to hopefully get a real fence here one day. The sooner the better!!
I live on the border and I am happy as can be with President Trump. He has and continues to do everything in his power to secure this border. He has been and is fighting an uphill battle against not only the dims but some Rs as well. I keep up on the border issues and many don’t. I know that many things he has implemented have been stopped by judges.
To deal with the Central American migrants the policy was any that came in illegally were barred from claiming asylum. A judge struck that down and said anyone from another country can claim asylum, no matter where they may be or if they crossed illegally. The result of that is many illegals do not turn themselves in, get into the country illegally and only if caught by BP do they say the magic word asylum. There have been many more policies put in place that meant our immigration laws were to be strictly enforced and have been struck down by judges. It is maddening, that is the cause of the chaos now at the border. It is not President Trump’s fault in any way and he keeps fighting every day on border issues.
*Months ago we were told of a 20 mile section of wall to be built from El Paso west from the Rio Grande River into the New Mexican desert
I would suggest the video is of the construction of that new wall segment. *

El Paso has Ft. Bliss for the Army, San Diego has Navy/Marine Corps, but most of the border is too far from existing bases to commute.
Truck driving, and other logistic support (helicopter/plane driving, medical, etc.) is what a lot of the Military being sent to support Border Patrol is doing. Also they do some high tech surveillance.
Some of the tactical, deployable, Combat Engineer units will be supporting as well, to install concertina wire. They can do some general construction work, but are not specialized for wall/fence building, so they would be less efficient, and produce more variable quality. Mostly their mission is to emplace or clear obstacles on battlefields, like minefields or roads.
They could do some, but it is really outside their wheelhouse. Civilian contractors will comply with all the local construction codes, and will produce reliable quality, or pay to fix it themselves.
The Army itself (Corps of Engineers) is managing the contracting for this construction. Just like when they build things on base, they have civilian professionals do the work, rather than soldiers.

I’m convinced President Trump sees the things you listed as only as obstacles to overcome, not obstacles to give up on, as you do.
Wow, $1,200 on Amazon. Looks like it’s a really good piece of equipment. Wouldn’t mind having one.
Median annual income in Mexico is a little under $2,000 per year and inasmuch as the average border crosser makes considerable less than that...
‘Course the cartels could buy them by the trainload!
Sounds good. I kind of expect DJT will not get the money from Pelosi but will milk the intransigence in the face of a large majority of voters until he goes ahead with it. i suspect he will not use Emergency Act but something like moving around “unallocated funds” in the Defense Department. More likely is that I will be surprised by a quite different method when he does it.
I saw a couple of those. Our man is going to get it done. There is one promise Ihe has not yet kept that I await eagerly. That is “If I were President you would be in jail” to Mrs Bill. I think that’s a quote. It may be a paraphrase.
I have given up on a big and beautiful concrete wall at least until 2nd inauguration in January 2021.
The difference between you and a billionaire.
Thanks for that info. I will have to modify my plan to invade Mexico over that wall.
But that was just my opening position in the negotiations. :-)
I knew it was never going to happen. The cost alone would crush us.
If we rate President Trump's bollard system on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 9. Not perfect. Not ideal. But it's going to accomplish a heck of a lot, and can always be improved upon down the road if needed. imo
I think there is a Kristin who posts threads. I confused her with Kristinn at first.
