On Monday evening in Houston, a dozen armed men broke into the home of Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas, a middle-aged couple who had lived in the house at 7815 Harding Street for at least two decades. The first man through the door, who was armed with a shotgun, used it to kill one of the couple's dogs. Tuttle responded to the home invasion by grabbing a revolver and shooting the man with the shotgun, who collapsed on a sofa in the living room. As Nicholas tried to disarm the intruder, his accomplices shot her. Tuttle returned fire, and by the end of the shootout he and his wife were both dead. Four of the assailants were hit by gunfire, while a fifth injured his knee.

Or the cops saying, "I saw something in his hand." "He was acting suspicious." "Our informant previously bought drugs at that residence."
I'd say when the pit bull started attacking, they no other option to be shoot it. And, that was likely going to happen no matter. I doubt very seriously if either one of the two at the home were going to have a peaceful chat with the officers.
“I doubt very seriously if either one of the two at the home were going to have a peaceful chat with the officers.”
Do you believe it possible that they would have a peaceful chat with the officers, had the officers simply knocked on their door to serve the warrant?
Reagan conservatives certainly do not believe in legalizing drugs. It's utterly moronic idea that diminishes the quality of life for everyone.
Your personal choice ends when start engaging in negligent behavior that endangers other people.
Yeah, they certainly don’t seem to have been big-time heroin dealers. And I have to figure that if they found a large amount of marijuana, the cops would be trumpeting that instead of being mum about how much was there.
From what I’ve read, they were a couple of middle-age people with some significant health issues. Sounds like one or both of them might have been using the MJ for medicinal purposes.
Given that their flashers and siren was on, the couple knew damn well the police were outside their home. And, they decided to have their pit bull ready to attack and armed themselves. It was if they wanted to have a shootout with police.
Yup. That is about what it looks like to me.
Unfortunately, there are still a lot of people who are fully behind legalized judicial murder of people as long as they claim it's in the name of the 'drug war'. It has generally been my experience that the biggest supporters of the war on (some) drugs are profiting from it in one way or another.
Never mind, studies have shown pot can cause both paranoia and schizophrenia.
Never mind, traffic fatalities have increased in both Washington state and Colorado since pot was legalized.
The last thing this nation needs are more legal ways to get high.
All you can is compare pot to alcohol, which is a straw man argument. That alcohol might worse doesn't negate the damage done to the quality of life everyone by legalizing pot.
Let states handle as long as the states keep illegal. I don't care.
Is NOT "Proof"!
The firearms are legal and not typical of someone defending a drug business. (i.e. no semi-autos)
Triggered posters can't wait... it's better to spend hours obsessively spewing a deluge of s**t onto a single FR thread.
Forgive me, but I do not believe you answered my question. Do you believe, had the officers simply knocked on the door, that the outcome would have been the same?
Also, I see you tout the flashing lights as a reason that the occupants of the house should have known the police were there. But if you read the article, you can see that the sequence of events is not quite as you describe.
“Acevedo said the plainclothes narcotics cops serving the warrant “announced themselves as Houston police officers while simultaneously breaching the front door.” Meanwhile, uniformed officers waiting in or near a “marked police unit” outside the house “hit the siren and hit the lights so they knew that police officers were there.”
You can see the statement uses the word “meanwhile” which generally is defined as at the same time or during. I will also note, that those serving the warrant were “plainclothes”, and announced themselves “simultaneously” as breaching the door.
I understand what side you are defending, but at what point, in your mind, has it gone too far for freedom and natural rights to co-exist with the actions we see?
perhaps you should wait for further investigation/details.
...............................................................
We have the details. The police had a valid warrant. The turned the siren on flashers in their vehicles. The shooting started when the officers were attacked by a pit bull.
What we have is pro-drug, anti-police liberaltarian types that want drugs legalized no matter how destructive that would be to everyone else’s quality of life.
********************************************************I
Well, I guess youre going to continue with your boot licking believing that the boot-wearers MUST always be in the right and never have major F#@kups.
By the way...Im not pro-drug nor am I anti-police nor am I a libertarian nor do I want drugs legalized.
The police were ambushed. The suspects absolutely knew who came to the door. The siren and the flashing lights tipped them off. A pit bull was unleashed upon them. The two druggies were armed. The female druggie tried to take one of the officer's weapons away.
Who other than Antifa sympathizer feels sorry for these two losers?
Yes -- I believe several officers would dead.
The suspects knew who was at their door (the siren and flashing lights tipped them off) and planned an ambush. First their pit bull attacked. They were both armed. The female tried to take a woman away from the police officer.
There is a reason why the sister of the guy that was shot apologized to the police officers. She knows exact what kind of scum her brother was.
You sound like Joe Gamaldi. That was all together odd.
You sound like Joe Gamaldi. That was all together odd.
I fell sorry for you and other folks who go through life blind and delusional. Im sure most FReepers are glad they are not you.
But, you apparently want to assume the worst about the officers.
You sounded like Al Sharpton. I guarantee if the two that were shot were black, you'd be backing the officers.
