How’s that? Never heard of such a thing, at least here in California, in 28 years before the bar. There are exemption statutes, such as the one that prevented them from attaching OJ Simpson’s retirement accounts to satisfy the wrongful death judgment. Subject to any homestead exemption, Paul should be able to levy on the house

See my #42. Not bankruptcy; the retirement accounts were exempt from levy.

The Canadian private Shouldice Hospital specializes in ‘non-mesh hernia repair’. USA Health Care apparently prefers the cheaper mesh procedure. Around the World, patients prefer this particular Canadian hospital, but you must pay cash.

With the caveat that this is based on CA law: I think it’s about 10k in equity in one vehicle. Jewelry generally up for grab. 2 cars,
Boats, etc can be attached.. I literally got the watch off a guy’s wrist at a debtor’s examination. Homestead exemption and assets held in retirement accounts are the biggest exemptions. Also accounts that essentially only contain social securitybenefits. If you transfer assets in advance to avoid a potential judgment, you can go after those guys, too.

A 580K judgement don’t mean sic-em if he can’t collect it.

Which means, of course, that there aren’t any rules at all.

“I don’t understand the $7834 in medical costs. Just a trip to the ER will cost that much alone. Then he had surgery. I would estimate his medical costs to be $78,000. Or more.”

That was probably the deductable on his insurance. In effect out of pocket expenses.

You cannot read. One of the docs is his friend, and where he works specializes in doing hernia repairs.

The reasons are completely valid.

You remain an idiot. It would be insulting if you werent one, but since you are, its just stating a fact.

“I don’t understand the $7834 in medical costs.”

That’s most likely his co-pay and the rest was covered by insurance. The next shoe to drop is the insurance company suing to recover their loss.
