On Wednesday, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) released a survey showing that college students in Generation Z or iGen are conflicted on free speech and seem to value tolerance and inclusion more than this important First Amendment liberty. Sixty percent of students say "promoting an inclusive environment that is welcoming to a diverse group of students" is more important than "protecting students' free speech rights, even if it means allowing hurtful or offensive speech," the FIRE/YouGov poll found. More than half of students (57 percent) either agree or strongly agree that "colleges and universities should be able to restrict student expression of political views that are hurtful or offensive to certain students." Even worse, more than two-thirds of students (70 percent) agree with this statement: "students at my college or university should be excluded from extracurricular activities (ex: sports, Greek life, student organizations) if they publicly express intolerant, hurtful, or offensive viewpoints."

Do they even own a dictionary, let alone a copy of the Constitution/Bill of Rights?
Free speech is tolerance. The two are not opposites.
I am offended by restrictions on my or anyone’s freedom of speech. Anything said can be offensive to someone. Who is to decide what we can say and what we can’t say? As soon as this restriction were applied to them, they would be the first to holler, IF the were permitted to.
Im open to making that Plan B. Seriously, these kids desperately need to go through real tough times (something more than the WiFi is down) in order to gain some perspective on life. Most of them are at best useless, and at worst dangerous Marxist pawns because of their stupidity.
For me it was getting high and showering with your girlfriend.
Very good!

Can we just abort that 60%?
If Gen X is our only hope - then we might as well take down the flag, turn off the lights, and call this a failed experiment.
What do you figure is the average I.Q. of a Generation X individual? I’ll guess it’s not much above 90, if that. Moreover, if the test is restricted to U.S. or World history, it’s likely far lower.
The truth is that the majority these people are imbeciles, who have been indoctrinated, rather than educated - and their indoctrination was accomplished by those who were educated beyond their intelligence.
My short version, of this reply to you, would go something like this: “HOPE was a ship - and it sank.”
I work with a bunch of millennial and the NY infanticide ruling set a bunch of them off. MAJOR!
I was happily shocked at how upset they were. Some of the millennials, maybe a lot of them, aren’t as stupid as being portrayed.
Sent them to Hillsdale College course on the Constitution.
Freedommmmmmmm!
I just copied that! That is a keeper.
Your post is very inspiring. Great news for this heart.
“”colleges and universities should be able to restrict student expression of political views that are hurtful or offensive to certain students.””
So who are the official students who must not have their feelings hurt?
I’m guessing it isn’t white males.
“Whoa Nellie. I am a Xer and we have nothing to do with these Millenials and Zers.”
Ok, so you aren’t in the 90%. Just mention my name...
Bullstalin.
They aren’t tolerant of Christian beliefs.
They aren’t tolerant of Judaism.
They aren’t tolerant of political disagreement.
They aren’t tolerant of skepticism of politicized “science” or “media”.
Lolligag is onto something...
We need a taxpayer rebellion.
Starve the Beast.
So all conservatives of fighting age 38 to 53 are useless morons?
Ok. You’re dead.
Lots of room here to make some $$$ on Civil Suits!
Rand Paul has pointed the way!
