My son was driving flatbeds for TMC in Iowa at this time last year. Damn cold. He's returned home to Pocatello, ID where it's a bunch warmer and life as a real estate broker is less stressful than driving flatbeds all over the US.
Amazing.
I was stationed at Grand forks AFB for over seven years. One winter the ambient temp at night hit -40 degrees for two weeks in a row. Daytime temps never went above -25. The wind chills hit -90 when a nice breeze kicked up.
It was a real pain trying to dispatch my missile maintenance troops. Even though it was Trip Condition Red we had to go out and fix a couple of missiles and I made sure I drove out there to be with them. To say it was cold would be the understatement of the century.
[Iowa Resident] If the global warming continues, we are all going to freeze to death!
Gunnison is in a bowl and when the sky is clear for a few days is when it gets really cold, -30 then a snow storm will blow in and the temp will “warm up” 50 degrees to 20.
