In GOP upset, Kelli Ward to lead Arizona Republican Party

Failed U.S. Senate candidate Kelli Ward, a conservative firebrand, will lead the Arizona Republican Party through the 2020 election.

In a contentious three-way race for AZGOP chair, Ward came out on top Saturday, defeating incumbent chairman Jonathan Lines.

Meanwhile, Arizona Democrats opted to retain their party chairwoman, Felecia Rotellini to another two-year term.

Republican losses in the 2018 election were a common refrain throughout the AZGOP state committee meeting Saturday at Phoenix’s Church for the Nations.

Prior to the election, Republicans held all statewide elected offices, a majority of the congressional seats and majorities in both chambers of the Legislature.

Although Republicans kept their legislative majorities, Democrats picked up four seats in the House — bringing the chamber to a 31-29 split. Democrats also won four statewide elections and a majority of Arizona’s nine congressional seats.

Ward, a former state senator, placed the blame squarely on Lines, of Yuma.

“I was with you on Election Day and after, sharing the heartbreak with you of the crushing defeats we had across Arizona despite historic unprecedented efforts,” Ward said

The status quo isn’t good enough, she said. And echoing comments U.S. Sen. Martha McSally made earlier in the meeting, Ward said, “we need to do better.” McSally, though, was talking about Republican election performance as a whole and not specifically about Lines.

They contaminated Ore, Washington, NV, and CO. Now its AZ next.

Some of us came from places like Arizona. Also note that some of the people leaving California are guys like Jim Rob. Their heart is in the right place, and they are tired of being outnumbered.

Great news! Apparently the incumbent was using GOP dollars to re-elect himself

I think McSally’s house seat flopped, I think.

I wasn’t sure because we lost so many that night! I mean they were stolen!

I was hoping Ward would have been appointed to follow John Kyl. But, maybe she can fire people up and stop the slide towards blue state ruination.

Partner, we need fighters in the GOP and not like that other gal that ran for GOP Senate office in the Great State of Arizona. We need folks like Kelli Ward who will fight to the end against any opponent.

This is the main reason we lost to the DemonRat candidate who is just a one term DemonRat senator since she is a Ding Bat DemonRat.

Doesnt mean a thing. Why? Because the democrats are infiltrating the states round about faster than the humans can.

The Democrats don't have to stay Democrat. The earlier waves of northerners moving to research triangle in North Carolina and Texas in the '80s changed their voting patterns to reflect their new home. This is more hopeful if we are talking about a 20-something who will eventually have a family to consider. The older folks who moved from NY and Vermont were early retirees, and had the opposite effect. We cannot just throw up our hands.

Let me tell you what is going to happen.

First, they will allow illegals to still come into this country.
2nd, like the democrats did in the mid 60s and LBJs war on poverty, they will give those illegals free stuff which will result in their being able to gain complete control over the entire nation through the vote-doesnt matter if conservatives hold onto states like North and South Dakota-Kansas, Oklahoma and even Texas. They will control everything within the federal government.
3rd. They will then move to disarm the law abiding citizens.
4th, they will gain complete control over the finances of everyone by micro chip technology. Everyone will get a chip implanted into them in which to buy and sell and work. All your personal information will be on there. There will be no privacy since they will claim that the “state” needs to know what we are up to for security reasons.
It will happen in CA first, then spread nationwide.

I’m not saying some or all of what you stated won’t happen, but I will not throw up my hands and say its inevitable for the honor of being crowned Cassandra.

Time to go Cochise, Geronimo, Crazy Horse and Nez Perce on the Dems. Take no prisoners, destroy their territories, put crooks and commies in jail (Sinema, for one) using voter fraud as one weapon. Contain the Left to Tucson and Phoenix and them work on grinding them down.

Use the illegal aliens invasion, the resulting crime and drug epidemics as your foil. Keep reminding the people via the radio, press, billboards of “The Human Cost of Illegal Immigration”, with photos of their victims from crime and drugs.

Other billboards should focus on the “Dollar” cost of illegals to the Arizona taxpayer, emphasizing that schools and hospitals suffer the most from the “wave” of sick illegals who can’t pay for medical care, and the destruction of the level of education from K-12.

A billboard in the right place is worth a Million Dollars with the wrong message.

I have known Lines a little, but not enough or closely enough to judge his performance. As I told him, you’re like an NFL coach with a 1-15 season, so it’s likely you’ll go. That said, I don’t know that Ward is the right one to lead a party. I voted for her twice, but I learned a lesson in Dayton when we forced out a very good county GOP chair in order to put in someone “more Tea-Party-ish” and that guy was a disaster. Had no communications skills, couldn’t unite the “moderate” wing, couldn’t raise money.

So, I hope Kelli can be a great success.

Doesn’t sound like it. Seriously Larry, finally a Trump supporter and true conservative gets some little bit of voice in AZ after the decades of McShame and Flake and all and you decide to toss out a backhanded comment?

Establishment AZ runs deep

Hard to find info:

“Ward won with 633 votes. Lines had 526 votes, and a third candidate had 65.”

But Geoff Diehl was toast, he had no chance to get that slot. I remain skeptical of anything MA and the GOP structure as a former resident, and my MI is it any better? I am not impressed with it frankly. I can’t even imagine the lack of Moral or Candidates w/ GOP hierarchy in CA, NY, IL etc...

I’m not a huge fan of Ward, but the establishment there is worse. After the poor job done in Arizona by the powers that be, she can’t be any worse.
