They will keep doing this until 2020.
They are running the clock.

Why did he wait until AFTER the HoR was in dim hands to start this grandstanding over a wall?
Okay, fine. I don’t think declaring an emergency will work as the courts will stop it before the ink is dry. Even if it means shutting down government, he needs to stand fast. Unless Republicans join Democrats to override his veto, he still has power if he chooses to use it. He needs to skip the campaign talk and talk specifics, lay out a full plan to build the wall, reform immigration. And while this is happening, there is no reason why he hasn’t shut down the border with Mexico, a step short of an emergency, to say he has stopped things while congress works out an acceptable solution. Lots of other steps he can do. Deploy the military again, more, etc.
Uh no. He had the power to do the wall since day 1. He claimed emergency and lets it fester for 2 years. Now he will be tied up in court till the election.
He could have hired an AG to take the comey report which outlines Hillary’s crimes and indict her.
Why you think that not realistic is beyond me.
The Never Trump Senate confirms the AG. GOP Congress has promised POTUS funding on wall for years. That you do not understand basics like that is “beyond me.”

Even my newly elected Democrat Congressman met with President Trump at the White House, and voted with the Republicans in the House for the border funding to reopen the government. Not every Democrat is on Pelosi's side.

The shutdown wass causing pain and that puts leverage on democrats. Instead republican senators start to fold. Trump should have held the line,. All this will do is get people through the atlanta airport easier for the super bowl and make the “emergency” seem like it’s not urgent.
He never had the power to build the wall without Congress and Ryan and McConnell don’t want a wall....

I agree. This will either be fought in Congress or in the Courts. He is alone. But at least I can come to Free Republic and read posts by all the Freepers who are abandoning Trump.

Amen! While I don’t like Pelosi to look like the winner, he said the alternative to another shutdown is to declare an emergency which I believe he will do now.
he has the power he refuses to exercise. The emergency power. He can tell the courts they have no standing to stop emergency actions. You can;t respond to emergencies if every just can stop the action, jeopardizes the country.
His own delaying for 2 years puts in question how much of an emergency this is. he keeps repeating all the problems and he keeps delaying action. He is contradicting himself.
