President Trump said late Wednesday that he would deliver his State of the Union address after the ongoing partial government shutdown is over.
"As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address," Trump wrote in a tweet. "I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over."
Trump clarified earlier statements suggesting he may do an “alternative” State of the Union, writing that he was not seeking an alternative venue because "there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber."
"I look forward to giving a “great” State of the Union Address in the near future!" he added.

“Cave?” Come on! Stop with the drama! For crying out loud, the SOTU “speech” has not been around that long in our nation’s history. The POTUS used to write a letter to Congress. Not until the advent of television - and narcissistic media whores - did the SOTU become the public spectacle we now have. I, frankly don’t give a rat’s ass about the SOTU speech, since the POTUS can make a “speech” to the American people any time he may choose. And - what’s Trump going to say about The Wall, The Shutdown, the obstructionist Democrats, etc., that we don’t already know? Chill out.
I think PDJT knows he is going to get the wall. Therefore, he can give the SOTU in a position of success not one in which the issue is still uncertain. How glorious will it be to see our President congratulating the American people on finally getting the border security we wanted and need so desperately. Nancy will be forced to sit behind him chewing her gums while our President rightfully gloats on his accomplishments no thanks to the democrat party.
