President Trump said late Wednesday that he would deliver his State of the Union address after the ongoing partial government shutdown is over.
"As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address," Trump wrote in a tweet. "I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over."
Trump clarified earlier statements suggesting he may do an “alternative” State of the Union, writing that he was not seeking an alternative venue because "there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber."
"I look forward to giving a “great” State of the Union Address in the near future!" he added.

If his past negotiating with antagonists is any indication, this action is to disarm the left until the appropriate time to bring out the big guns. I gotta go get more popcorn!

No choice. The shutdown is always toxic for the party in power. The longer it goes on, the worse it will get for Trump/GOP. He played his hand. She called his bluff. He lost this one.

We are witnessing a modern David vs Goliath story unfolding with his presidency.

Trump likes applause. Can’t get that on Lumbaugh. Same reason he doesn’t want Oval Office. That speech was flat because it didn’t give Trump the feedback he craves.
Why - he took the higher road instead of turning the SOTU into a circus...believe it - he will leverage a LOT when he gets around to the SOTU.
because you only see one piece at a time and not the bigger picture. Trump has not conceeded anything, he has put some options out there but has not agreed to or signed anything.
How do you have a talk or negotiations when nothing is on the table? Trump knows they would not agree, so it was pretty safe to float those options he did. mean while some people are waking up more to Nancy;s selfish power greediness and uttter disregard for the workers and all else.
Trump only makes good deals. He has shown he will walk away from the table if the deal isn’t to his liking (decent for the American people)
Other than the Speaker and the VP, most other reps and senators get zip face time. So I don’t believe your theory holds water. Trump craves the applause and ovations the SOTU gives him.
Ever meet any? I have. And they all brag about attending a SOTU. Facetime’s a big get, but attendance is enough to crow about.

“the point” would be he still is the better option for all the other good he did rather than vote in a dem who is likely to undo the good Trump did or create new govt enablements and problems.
Honestly how does our country survive currently with so many short sighted, small thinking people? Look at the whole picture not just one or two things.
How many years did our founders deal with problems before the revolution? then the people of the USofA dealt another 80+/- years until the end of slavery, and many other such problems that large amounts of people living at the time wanted fixed but had to endure through selfish, wrong thinking political people in power.
Be thankful for the good Trump has done and pray he gets to continue and that God is raising up people to come behind and follow after Trump’s second term. Be thankful eyes of those who thought Trump horrible are now opening to see clearly how horrible many of the dems are and that Trump is doing good and right things for our country.

Duh. It’s the SOTU. The whole idea of the speech is to get attention. His last speech was censored by the Demofascist media. Not even broadcast. Every GOP POTUS will maximize the SOTU because it’s the one chance they have to speak to the American people without being filtered by the MSM.
Your posts are dripping in Never Trumpism. Trump has done more to advance conservatism than any POTUS since Reagan. You might want to reflect on that before insulting him in this forum.
Pelosi wanted to take away any semblance of Trump appearing “presidential”.

It was a trap Pelosi laid for Trump and he didn’t bite. If he did a SOTU anywhere but live in the chamber, and delivered the SOTU to congress on paper as required, the rats would read the SOTU, compare it to whatever Trump says in another venue and claim it was different.
Then they would start impeachment proceedings. It’s how the rats work. Meanwhile, the government is still shutdown, votes will be tallied today on the two bills being offered up. Trump will look at the two bills, see there is no 5.7 billion and say he will not sign them.
