The Israeli Defence Forces on Sunday confirmed that its missiles are currently targeting Iranian Quds in Syrian territory just before midnight local time as reports from the Syrian News Agency confirms massive explosions in capital Damascus.
We warn the Syrian Armed Forces against attempting to harm Israeli forces or territory, the statement released by the IDF said. It marks the first time Israel has confirmed they are striking Iranian targets in Syria and that it is happening in real time.
There have been unconfirmed reports since that Syrian forces are engaging with their weaponry by the Golan Heights a region that separates Israel and Syria.
The Syrian Army started launching dozens of surface-to-air projectiles at Israeli warplanes striking near Damascus, triggering air defence systems in northern Israeli, according to local Channel 13 reporters.

The Golan Heights are a key to Israels security in the North. Syria will be punished for trying to challenge Israeli occupation of the heights.

I’m sure most of you already knew about this. I think this started last night but I’m not sure of the exact times.

There’s a bit of a war of economic attrition going on here. Are Israeli missiles cheaper than Iranian munitions? Can Iran replace munitions as fast as Israel is destroying them? Israel’s GDP (2017) was $350b vs Iran’s $440b. If every dollar of Israeli munitions is destroying $5 worth of Iranian weaponry, this could be a real drag on Iran’s appropriations budget, especially in view of the fact that Iran is also financing the Houthi rebels in Yemen, and firing expensive ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia. For reference, Saddam’s Scuds cost $1m a pop.

“Are Israeli missiles cheaper than Iranian munitions?”
That’s a problem. The Israelis have excellent missile defense systems (Iron Dome, Arrow, etc.), but each battery costs 50 million (they have 10 - aiming for 15), and each missile costs $40,000.
Many of the Palestinian/Hamas missiles are made or assembled in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which would make them much cheaper than their Israeli counterparts. There are reports of Hezbollah in South Lebanon having tens of thousands of missiles (Katushya, etc). If so, they could rapidly deplete the Israeli missile defenses - one example of how “quantity has a quality all it’s own.”

You're right, so Damascus and Tehran should be nuked.

This is why it makes sense to bomb the parts or assembled missile stockpiles rather that wait for them to be lobbed over the border. But I think the cost of ballistic missiles has very little to do with labor costs and everything to do with parts expense, given that Saddam bought his Scuds from Kim Il-sung.

I am. Thank you for saying that.
I’ve been so busy that my reflection time has been small.
It varies with the moment.
