EARL CARROLL’S VANITIES OF 1930: “HITTIN’ THE BOTTLE”
It was a Broadway revue that produced this early jazz favorite, which had the kind of bluesy minor key sound that popped up in the early years of the Depression. This 1930 effort gives you a glimpse into what late Twenties dance band music sounded like. Catch the tuba backing the bass line even though we’re well into the electric recording era.

Good evening, radu...any respite from the rain?
We’ve been fogged in all day.
At work, south of me, at times we couldn’t even see the huge Best Buy sign on the building across the alley. Traveling north coming home it seems to lift some until I turned east towards the mountains. Don’t know how it is downtown where you see with the cams.
