EARL CARROLL’S VANITIES OF 1930: “HITTIN’ THE BOTTLE”

It was a Broadway revue that produced this early jazz favorite, which had the kind of bluesy minor key sound that popped up in the early years of the Depression. This 1930 effort gives you a glimpse into what late Twenties dance band music sounded like. Catch the tuba backing the bass line even though we’re well into the electric recording era.

LOL...I saw a Tuba in an antique store today. Since I am a bass player, I found myself somewhat attracted to it....
