Hey there, Kathy.
No surprise on that short nap. LOL! You must be beat after the week you’ve had. I hope you don’t have a lot of things that need to be done this weekend so you can kick back.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
HAROLD ARLEN
BROWN SUGAR: LINDA
This is another historic document because it shows Benny in 1930 in the days before Swing. Its a different take on the song, and thats Benny himself singing. His fortunes improved when he stopped singing and concentrated on his clarinet.
Benny Goodman: Linda

It would be great if they’re wrong about the snow but even without it, I ain’t a-goin’ nowhere Sunday. All surfaces outside that get soaked by the rain will be iced over. The high Sunday is only supposed to hit around the freezing mark so no melting.
The one good thing is the sky is supposed to clear up Sunday afternoon so we should get to see the lunar eclipse that night. Just have to bundle up because it’s going to be frigid and windy.
We have plenty of people food so no need to get more today. LOL! Probably have enough dry food for the cats but I’m not taking chances. Litter ..... yeah, we needed more any way and I got extra.
Be glad they’re not dropping your temp predictions like they are here. We have one 50 degree day in the next week and the rest are 40s and 30s.

The next one will startle you. I had no idea that Harold Arlen wrote it.

This recording is a historic document because thats Harold Arlen singing, and he had a fine voice. This is typical dance band music of the era. For once, theres no tuba. Double basses began to replace tubas in 1930. This Benny Goodman version of the same tune, on Melotone #12024 also has no tuba. The previous disc, He's Not Worth Your Tears, released late in 1930 on #12023, was his first hit.

Oops—Sorry for the duplication. Should have read post #64.

I hate to even say that it’s supposed to be 72 here on Tuesday...before it cools down again. No freezing temps here.
Actually, I wouldn’t mind having some actual winter weather. This doesn’t bode well for spring and summer. I might have to spend summer in WY where it probably won’t get up to 100. LOL!
Sure hope that frigid weather passes you pretty quickly. Looks like you’re in the wake of “Harper”.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
HAROLD ARLEN
RHYTH-MANIA: I LOVE A PARADE
Its hard to remember that this 1931 tune came from a Cotton Club revue. We tend to think of it as a World War I song, but thats not the case. This is what belters sounded like before crooners came along with electric recording.
