I found out about the controversy when listening to Mark Steyn fill in for Rush. And it occurred to me that if it is immoral for Gladys to do the gig, why is it all right for the African-American players to actually play? After all, haven’t they been compared to slaves by LeBron James, the very font of wisdom?
She "seemed to criticize" Kaepernick?
They don't want her to make sense, they just want her to rant just like them.
Not much of a criticism:
“I understand that Mr. Kaepernick is protesting two things, and they are police violence and injustice,” Knight wrote to Variety. “It is unfortunate that our national anthem has been dragged into this debate when the distinctive senses of the national anthem and fighting for justice should each stand alone.”
I think her handlers are trying to reduce the amount of booing that will occur while recording the legend’s delivery.
Crap...she brings back some GREAT MEMORIES in my past. I love her, that simple.
And, even after all these decades, she’s not letting me (or us) down. She is AMAZING! Hopefully God gives her many more decades on this planet.
Sounds like she has decided she doesn’t want to do the anthem at the Super Bowl. Expect a call for her removal from the left any time now.
And just to lighten the mood, I had to throw this in.
She was neutral with Colin Kaepernick. She made a great and welcome statement. And no young black complainers are going to keep her from singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.
The NFL is breathing a sigh of relief that they landed Gladys Knight.

That said, I’m kind of surprised to hear this plan.
There has been discussion here lately that Gladys may have some level of Alzheimers.

During the week surrounding Aretha Franklin’s (eight hour!) funeral, Gladys said something about, the last time she met with Aretha, the two bonded, because “We shared the fact that we had the same disease.” Gladys’ publicist said ‘Gladys was ‘misinterpreted’. She does not have pancreatic cancer.”
Maybe Gladys was just caught up in the grief and spoke from the heart, making a general statement that really was mis-heard. The two women had been friends for decades.
THIS is the caliber of woman that we stand in need of today.
