Soul singer Gladys Knight, who will be singing the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl in Atlanta, seemed to criticize Colin Kaepernick in a statement published by Variety on Friday.

Gladys is one my two favorite female singers from the 60s - 70s era. “Neither One of Us” still sends shivers up my spine with that performance. The other singer was Marilyn McCoo of the 5th Dimension. Just something about her voice.

So for all you here who trash Mormons, here’s a lady who is a decent person who is one. And until a couple of years ago, she was a neighbor of my SIL in Las Vegas.
The organization probably will rescind her invite. Having a patriotic American participating ... they simply cannot have that.

In her musical career, Gladys Knight conveyed a sense of poise and dignity. I suspect that, like many Black Americans, she genuinely and deeply loves our country and respects our national anthem.
