Ilhan Omar, one of the countrys first Muslim congresswomen, is among the CBCs new members. headshot
On Thursday, the day of the official swearing-in of the 116th Congress, the Congressional Black Caucus swore in its own group of members, a total of 55 ― its largest number in history.
This years CBC surpasses its previous record of 49 House and Senate members in the 115th Congress.
With the largest caucus in history... the CBC is poised to play a leading role in standing up to the Trump Administration and pressing forward on key issues like protecting voting rights and the Affordable Care Act, executive director Kevin Harris said by email.

It sounds racist to have your own group like that.
With stellar representatives like max waters and hank johnson, I’m sure we’re all in good hands.
I’m waiting to hear the opinion of the Congressional White Caucus.
How many did the congressional white caucus swear in?
The Congressional Black Caucus is a racist organization.
the collective is racist by defnition
the Black caucus is offensive
Great! When does the Congressional White Caucus swear in THEIR members?
Gotta keep their black voters on the plantation and poor, with their worn old promise of helping them to the top of the mountain.
Is there a sadder demographic than that one?
On the bright side, the CBC concentrates corruption into a small group. A large percentage of them have gone to jail.
Swearing in? To the CBC, their oath of office isn't enough? Couldn't find the text, and was too lazy to look through the 1/5 hour video and transcribe it. But it must involve loyalty to the black race. Though they claim to be an organization comprised of representatives of black district, paleface Roy Cohen, a far left representative of a majority black district is ineligible.
Rep. William Lacy Clay, Jr., Democrat of Missouri, the son of Rep. William Lacy Clay Sr., a co-founder of the caucus, said: "Mr. Cohen asked for admission, and he got his answer. He's white and the caucus is black. It's time to move on. We have racial policies to pursue and we are pursuing them, as Mr. Cohen has learned. It's an unwritten rule. It's understood." Clay also issued the following statement:Quite simply, Rep. Cohen will have to accept what the rest of the country will have to acceptthere has been an unofficial Congressional White Caucus for over 200 years, and now it's our turn to say who can join 'the club.' He does not, and cannot, meet the membership criteria unless he can change his skin color. Primarily, we are concerned with the needs and concerns of the black population, and we will not allow white America to infringe on those objectives.[16]
I'd like to think the Huffington Post got the headline wrong, and they don't take an additional oath.
We have to defund these “identity” groups.....like the CBC and the Latino Caucus, and so on....there’s even a Caribbean Congressional Caucus.
These connivers calculately separate themselves from the rest of America to pursue THEIR interest to the exclusion of the rest of us.
This is what I always wondered. Isn’t this just the group of Congressmen and Congresswomen that are black? Nothing more?
Why not the Jew Caucus then?
White Caucus?
Sub Caucus Black Female Caucus?
Institutional labeling should be the first thing to go away if the pols want us all to feel like we’re equals.
He does not, and cannot, meet the membership criteria unless he can change his skin color.

He could just identify as black.
The congressional militants should scare the hell out of woke whites, but I doubt it will. Most are too frightened to believe their own eyes.
waiting to hear from the Congressional white caucus.. you beat me by *...* that much.
Why should there be a Congressional White Caucus when whites are the majority?
Wait, the blacks have their own swearing-in as well? Put an end to this crap. Why are they so special they get their own damn caucus?
But we’re still racist country according to those in the CBC
Measuring by the pound or by hate of whitey quotient?
