Freshman Congressmen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib have wasted no time in shaking up the US House of Representatives. Early Friday morning, Omar and Tlaib introduced a bill adding Islamic holidays to the Federal calendar which has traditionally only recognized American holidays.
Omar and Tlaib’s bill would add Eid Al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan and the four-day-long celebration of Eid Al-Adha to the list of Federally recognized holidays, potentially granting reasons to banks, schools, and other businesses to remain closed for five additional days per year.
Omar and Tlaib justified their work as making America more inclusive of it’s Muslim-American population and moving us further away from our history as a primarily Christian nation. The women are also considering a last minute addition to their bill that would allow for regular Salah time breaks for school children and workers as well as a designated area in each public business where Muslims could perform Salah, the five daily prayers plus the Friday prayer, unmolested...

Idunno. As an Orthodox Christian, I do not observe secular civil holidays, except for July 4 and Thanksgiving. (The latter is not really a secular holiday, and might make a good Orthodox feast day anyway.) (Not all Orthodox follow my practice, either.)
Making muslim holidays American civil holidays would make that many new “holidays” not worth observing!!!! PHOOEY!!!!
Besides that, the only appropriate muslim observances in the USA would be September 11 and April 15 (date of the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013). Phooey again!!!!
What part of “separation of Church and State” are unclear to these two?
If the Muslim days are made Federal Holidays then surely our 12 Great Feasts plus all of Holy Week and Pascha deserve the same!
It is because of my observance of Orthodox Holy Days that I do not observe most secular civil holidays. Enough is enough!!
Of course, if they add muslim holidays, it will be a case of “enough is too much”!!!

One Christian federal holiday, none from any other religion, and we need 5 Islamic federal holidays. To begin. And prayer rooms in all business'. In the interest of. Why not simply erase the history, like we do with the Civil War.

I’m not even in favor of Jewish holidays being federal holidays.
