A 'no deal' Brexit is best for Britain and the United States

[T]he best course of action for Great Britain would be to move forward with a “no deal” Brexit, under which there is a complete separation from the European Union.

A “no deal” scenario would place Britain completely outside the EU’s Customs Union and Single Market, with no transition period. Britain would trade with the EU under World Trade Organization rules. Meanwhile, it would be free to fully control its borders and negotiate and sign free trade agreements with nations across the world. A “no deal” Brexit is the best path forward to ensure that Britain is a truly free sovereign nation, able to shape its own destiny on the world stage. It is also a plus for the United States.

A “sovereign Brexit” would provide tremendous impetus to a US-UK free trade agreement, advancing economic freedom on both sides of the Atlantic and further enhancing the Special Relationship between the world’s largest and fifth largest economies. Such a deal already enjoys strong support from the Trump administration and on Capitol Hill. It could be in place by the end of 2019.

In June 2016, 17.4 million Britons voted to retake control of their own country from the European Union. The vote was the greatest blow for liberty and self-determination on the world stage in many decades. Brexit is already firmly written into legislation passed overwhelmingly by Britain’s Parliament. It is due to begin on March 29, 2019.

A successful Brexit, based upon a truly sovereign Britain, will be great for Britain, for Europe and for the United States. In 73 days’ time, the American and British people should celebrate an historic moment that will bring the United States and United Kingdom closer together.

If this were true we would be negotiating such a deal with the UK, thereby giving them some leverage negotiating with the EU.

As it is, we encouraged them to leave then went missing.

We can’t interfere at this time. Once they have exited there will be a deal made quickly.

One things in the fake Brexit was a ban on applying British law to a group of the elite, and a ban on prosecuting them for crimes they committed. The whole thing was deep state.

I hope the whole Anglosphere....America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand immediately offer Britain free trade deals as soon as they are out from under the EU.

If I recall Preident Trump has already promised necessary support for the transition when speaking publicly on the matter.

Trump should immediately offer the U.K. a true “free trade” agreement, an agreement that makes all tariffs between the two nations zero, and has no industrial or product import or export quotas - truly FREE trade.

U.K. would get a ton of capital investment from EU nations, moving or upping their manufacturing in the U.K.

A no-deal Brexit is better than this half-in half-out version, but it's still terrible for the UK. UK Manufacturing is based on cross-country supply chains. If a 10% tariff is added on each item, then lots of manufacturers will shut down their British branches and move them to the continent

Then the UK Banking industry is already hit - the backoffice work is moving to Poland and Romania, while IT stuff moves to Poland, Germany and Netherlands and trading moves to a mix of Dublin, Frankfurt and Paris.

Not going to happen - there's no indication that they want to give Britain any kind of sweet deal, leave alone a free trade deal

And then you ask yourself, from the USA's point of view, what does Britain have to offer? It's not a gateway to the continent anymore, it doesn't produce much on its own any more.

if the UK gets complete free trade, then why would EU nations do things there rather than Canada? The cost of keeping an office or factory in Canada which is closer to the US negates the need for the UK

There is not even a start to a trade deal, leave alone a free trade deal between the US and the UK and it gets worse - some Brits wanted the 4 EU freedoms to be replicated in a free trade deal with the US -- freedom of people movement, of goods, of services etc. -- so are you really willing to give radical Mozzies from the UK free movement to come to the USA?

Even if we ignore them, this kind of a free movement deal takes years to negotiate.

“with no transition period.”

The past 2 1/2 years since the referendum have been a “transition period”.

There wouldn’t be anything like that. We have free trade deals with Canada and Mexico that do not involve anything like free movement of people.

Yes no deal is being negotiated right now but it would not take very long to offer them something on the model of what Canada has.

Obama was President during the referendum, and he encouraged them to remain, famously saying they’d go “to the back of the queue” in terms of any trade deals with the US.
