Congressional Democrats on Tuesday rejected President Trump's invitation to a lunch meeting at the White House to discuss border security, in the latest sign that both sides of the government shutdown standoff remain entrenched in their positions with no compromise in sight.
A senior administration official told Fox News that the president had invited Democrats to join his lunch with members of Congress in the Roosevelt Room shortly after noon. But moments before the session, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement that nobody took them up on the offer.
"The President has a proposal on the table that includes additional technology at ports of entry, allows minors from Central America to seek asylum in their home country, and physical barriers between ports of entry made of steel instead of concrete," she said. "Today, the President offered both Democrats and Republicans the chance to meet for lunch at the White House.
Unfortunately, no Democrats will attend. The President looks forward to having a working lunch with House Republicans to solve the border crisis and reopen the government.
"It’s time for the Democrats to come to the table and make a deal."

Don’t believe me that federal bureaucrats can be laid off? Well, in bureaucratese, a layoff is called a RIF – a Reduction in Force, and of course, it comes with a slew of civil service protections. But, if the guidelines are followed, bureaucrats can be laid off — as in no more job.

Good. If they’re non-essential, why on earth are we paying for them? Screw the TSA - the airports are better off without them, and screw the “arts” and “parks” crowd, too. You want that crap? Pay for it with your own money - not mine.

The Dims don’t know it (yet) but they’re sowing the seeds of their own destruction. They are going further and further to the left.
An analysis I recently read shows that historically, in both the UK and the US, when the “left” party (Labor in the UK and the Dims in the US) move way to the left after losing a National election (UK) and Presidential election (US), they get clobbered in the next one.
Think 1972 McGovern vs. Nixon.
Guarantee this gets no coverage in the media. It will be reported there was no compromise by trump.

House democrats are taking ANOTHER vacation starting Jan 17 and ending on the 28th. They seriously do not care about the shutdown or the pain it is causing.
No. That's what the Democrats want. It allows precedence to be set and gives them a face-saving way out of this.
President Trump just needs to keep standing strong. It's Pelosi's constituents who are suffering right now. Pelosi is the one who needs to bend the knee.

On a more positive note, getting closer to the day that the masses can be laid off.
Dem’s will flip out when the President tells all employees (I think it is coming) - you better call the Speaker and encourage her to get to the table if you want to keep your job.

The Democrats’ alternative plan for border security is to do nothing.
This is going to get “entertaining”, at a minimum. Can you imagine the pressure on Chuck/Nancy when the mostly Dem government workers are getting RIF’d?

Have the Democrats finally realized that we desperately need Border Security and a Wall on the Southern Border. Need to stop Drugs, Human Trafficking,Gang Members & Criminals from coming into our Country. Do the Dems realize that most of the people not getting paid are Democrats?
