An Afghan talent show contestants striking resemblance to Justin Trudeau has turned him into an unlikely celebrity in the war-torn country.
Abdul Salam Maftoon, a wedding singer from a village in the remote and impoverished northeastern province of Badakhshan, had never even heard of his more famous doppelganger until a judge on the popular television music contest Afghan Star pointed out the uncanny likeness.
Slightly built with a long face and dark brown hair and eyes, Maftoon, 29, hopes the flattering comparison to the politician widely rated as one of the sexiest leaders in the world will bring him more votes on Afghanistans version of American Idol.
People have forgotten my name and now they just call me Justin Trudeau, Maftoon told AFP. I didnt know anything about Justin Trudeau until I saw the photos on social media.
The resemblance has boosted my chances of winning the competition by 50%.

Maybe Canada could trade Trudeau for this guy....
LOL!!
Afghan Star!? Like Ted Macks Amateur Hour? One man bands, dancing poodles, people with dynamite strapped across their chests?
Not a bad likeness, if you can ignore that bright golden grill.
Not as close if a match as Fidel Castro was.
And he’s only half as stupid.
I’m terrible at faces, but if those two look alike, Michael Moore looks like Peewee Herman.
Close enough ...
Afghanistan has television?
He’s got real eyebrows.
Canadian colloquialism for him is Justin Tru-Do-Do.
Afghan Star!? Like Ted Macks Amateur Hour? “

I’m not sure which is more pathetic - that this is the best entertainment Afghan has to offer or that they think these two are look-alikes.
That Castro guy sure got around didnt he?
Mental illness is world wide
Wow, the women were terribly oppressed sex objects back then.
