Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) on Monday denounced GOP leaders' move to remove him from all committee assignments, calling it a "political decision that ignores the truth."
[House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthys (R-Calif.)] decision to remove me from committees is a political decision that ignores the truth," King said in a statement shortly after McCarthy told reporters that the Iowa congressman would not receive any committee assignments in the new Congress.
King was previously a member of the House Judiciary, Agriculture and Small Business committees. He had also served as chairman of a House Judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice in the last Congress.
The decision to strip him of those assignments came just days after King questioned why terms such as "white nationalist" and "white supremacist" were offensive in an interview with The New York Times.
"White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization how did that language become offensive? King asked in the interview, which was published last Thursday.
The comments generated criticism from Democratic and Republican lawmakers, with McCarthy saying over the weekend that action would be taken in response.
King said that his comments have been "completely mischaracterized."
"When I used the word THAT it was in reference ONLY to Western Civilization and NOT to any previously stated evil ideology ALL of which I have denounced," King said. "My record as a vocal advocate for Western Civilization is nearly as full as my record in defense of Freedom of Speech."
He added that he "ultimately" told McCarthy: "You have to do what you have to do and I will do what I have to do."
Two Democratic lawmakers on Monday introduced resolutions to formally censure King over his statements. House Democrats are expected to place a resolution to formally rebuke him that was introduced by Majority Whip James Clyburn (S.C.) on the floor for a vote on Tuesday.
Yep, you’re right. See post #120.
True! And as this this and other threads show the weak sisters won't believe him.
Thank goodness Pres. Trump never says awkward things. /s
Do you remember how tentative Trump’s nomination was during May and June of 2016? Reflect on it for a moment.
Keep in mind—the deep state is more subtle than any beast of the field.
They would never have King try to pull something obvious. No. A much more effective tactic would be for King to send the subtle message that he—conservative icon Steve King of Iowa—didn’t think Trump was conservative enough. Right at what they thought was his most vulnerable hour—before the convention.
The reason this assault on Trump didn’t work is it was planned and executed according to the ways of the old system. In that old war, the war of conservative against liberal. But sure enough, the deep state’s worst nightmare had already come true. The political power was in the hands of their deadliest enemy—the American patriot.
Save it. I don’t need your false information.
I wasn’t trying to make you lie down and surrender. Get back up, fight a little more and learn what you didn’t know before. Don’t jump in like you did, let yourself get swatted around and then just melt into a quivering ball. Get tough.
Then slow down and think more carefully about what I’ve explained to you.
Post #120 roasted you. You just don’t know it.
I recognize your right to have an opinion—and to be passionate about it. But there are two potentially gaping weaknesses in your methods.
The first is when you don’t recognize that a hardened politician’s true intentions are always hidden from view. In this case, King’s claim to support Trump after he had already secured conservative support didn’t move the pro Trump ball a single yard. All it really did was keep King in the game. But when he subtly questioned Trump’s conservatism just weeks before the most contested Republican convention ever, King knew very well that’s when his move had the potential to score against Trump and MAGA.
The second weakness is when you allow your focus on the content of a discussion to slip into a desire to exchange personal animus. These are two very different processes, and there’s no profit for you in the latter.
Thats why the liberals and the communists HATE humor! They cant stand it when we laugh at them and their idiotic ideologies and the morons who parrot their crap!!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Exactly.
That’s why we are ridiculing tampons like Congress Critter Occasional Kotex.
Winston Churchill used it effectively against a low life fascist called Adolf.Drove the one time paper hanger crazier than F**k with his radio broadcasts.
I say give hi a pass, just force him to write “Trump is a mother f**ker” on a chalk board 100 times.
Thank you MeganC. I’m just tired of seeing whites cower to PC crap. I’m a proud non-KKK(read democrat) White.
GodSpeed!
Good point; punctuation makes all the difference.
Thanks..
