Are you a man? That is to say, are you a genetic male who also happens to identify as a "man," for some increasingly antiquated reason? If so, are you under the mistaken impression that you're not a rapist?
Our society has come a long way in shaming men for behaving in any way that anybody anywhere doesn't like, and reminding men that we're all complicit even if we don't behave that way. But it's not nearly enough. The mere fact of maleness is shameful and problematic. Men and boys everywhere need to be reminded that we're evil. We must learn to hate ourselves as much as everyone else hates us. The patriarchy must be castrated.
And who better to do it than a company that makes razors?
Alexandra Bruell, WSJ:
Gillette is embracing the #MeToo movement in a new digital ad campaign aimed at men, the latest message from an advertiser attempting to change societal norms...
This is an important conversation happening, and as a company that encourages men to be their best, we feel compelled to both address it and take action of our own, said Pankaj Bhalla, Gillette brand director for North America in an emailed statement. We are taking a realistic look at whats happening today, and aiming to inspire change by acknowledging that the old saying Boys Will Be Boys is not an excuse. We want to hold ourselves to a higher standard, and hope all the men we serve will come along on that journey to find our best together.
Dovo straight edge?
Judging by a quick perusal of the Twitter feed of Andy Katz-Mayfield, one of the founders of Harry’s, that company is ten times more liberal than Gillette/P&G. Examples: a retweet of Obama in support of dreamers, an anti-Second Amendment tweet, support for “Pride” month, and Happy Hannuka wishes with no mention of Christmas. I was going to order from Harry’s but glad I did a little research first. Gillette was probably getting pressure for not being socially conscious like P&G.
Really well written. I salute you.
Harrys is all in on the gay agenda.
Dittos on the safety razor. Been using one for three+ years and would never go back to the gimmicks.
I like Feather blades from Japan, IIRC. Get a year’s supply at a time for the cost of a month’s worth of plastic toy razors.
Where do you find a good safety razor (and blades) these days?
Soy boy.
I meant to say Gillette was probably under fire for not being as progressive as Harry’s.
I bought a nice vintage safety razor on eBay. I think it cost me $30. Ironically, I just looked and it’s an old Gillette.
I get my blades on Amazon. Their site is wonky tonight for me or I’d copy a url. $23 for 100 blades so about $12 for a year’s worth. They have razors too, but there are plenty of other sources if you don’t like using Bezos.
I use a 2003 Norelco Triple Header; have since since 1985. Use Bic Blades to cut sideburns. Screw Gillette & Harry’s.
You can always go electric with Norelco. I did that when my honey bought me one a few years ago.
I was a happy (kinda, as they were always overpriced) Gillette customer since 1966.
All that stops today.
We have soooo many options when we seek to buy shaving gear.
Toodles, Gillette.
.
They mistake volume for market size.
They think that the large number of angry liberal bullies on Twitter represents a large young market they have to cater to.
They don’t realize that many of these people are only in it for the adrenaline fix. They hate on a scifi franchise and tear it down, but they won’t pay to watch the new movies or buy the new books. They crap on successful companies, but they won’t buy the products ... or don’t have the money to do so.
They’re giving in to the liberal bullies thinking this will save their business. They think the large number of vicious liberal Tweets represent millions of customers they’re mollifying and catering to.
In reality, the SJW crowd is much smaller than they seem ... and they’re a tiny fraction of the moderate market the company just pissed off.
Trac 2 is Gillette. These are Personna blades that fit a Trac 2 handle:

Well, Guess what Gillette? I can buy Harry’s for a LOT less money, they work better, and the company doesn’t insult me. So screw off.
Yet at least they still seem to recognize that men are a distinct class! That itself is objectionable to so many liberals.
Harrys.
