Republicans and Democrats may be sniping at each other over the partial government shutdown, but it’s the Libertarian Party which is putting words to action. Libertarians have organized multiple national park cleanups over the last week to show maybe the government isn’t needed to provide services.

Great. Trump needs to pivot this to a downsizing discussion.

Let’s do this all the time. I volunteer for parks and other public facilities I use and it develops a sense of ownership in addition to being fun.

A smarter idea would be to sell the national parks to capitalists. If people want parks, they will survive. If not, the land will be put to better use.

In our state and local national forest and refuge signs are posted to take your trash out when you leave. No barrels are placed for collection but a dumpster container is placed at one of the exits of national forestry.

If President Trump encourages cities to start contracting private security for their airports instead of TSA, the shutdown will end immediately.

There is no way that this would work in all states, counties and local municipalities. The Dems and the environmentalists have a plan and it doesn’t include cleaning up the parks. Many feel that the land sustains itself.... blah, blah, blah. And, the unions would scream that the volunteers are taking jobs away.... blah, blah, blah.

So many regulations, so many laws, so much useless squabbling.

I hope this works in most localities. We are controlled by liberals in my community, county and state. Sad.

Great. Privatize park services wherever possible.

One can choose to support google or disney. One can not choose to be taxed by the government and forced to fund a park.

Again, if people choose to support a google or disney park, it will survive just as disneyland and google maps survives. Also, it will only survive on the money given by willing donors and not take by the force of government from unwilling donors.
