Flanked by members of a local African-American faith community, a defiant Scott Israel defended himself against allegations of incompetence on Friday and made clear he would fight his suspension on any front necessary — whether before the Florida Senate or in state or federal court.
Israel, 62, a two-term Democratic sheriff of Broward County, was suspended by Gov. Ron DeSantis three days after the new Republican governor was sworn into office. DeSantis cited a list of failures enumerated by a state panel that investigated BSO’s response to the Feb. 14, 2018, shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

A report by Real Clear Investigations (RCI) suggests Sheriff Scott Israel did not fire Deputy Scot Peterson–aka, the “Coward of Broward”–following the Parkland school shooting because Peterson covered up a sexual assault incident involving the sheriff’s son.

Israel sat on stage while Parkland kids were screaming at Rubio for taking money from the NRA.
Does he get to keep his Lamborghini that I’m sure the Clinton Foundatino bought out of their charity???
Israel did not handle the Parkland shooting himself.
But, when you read the report from the investigating commission, it is clear the department had numerous issues, poor training, and a lack of responsibility among them.
All of the Broward County deputies that arrived at the scene dithered and acted like cowards. Much can be blamed on Peterson's (the SRO at Parkland) initial actions.
But Sheriff Israel had the ultimate responsibility for the actions of his department.
The lawsuits coming from the families will hopefully break him.
Even if he ultimately weasels out of legal liability, his lawyer will get everything he has. His lib pals aren’t gonna throw money at him after the independent commission found his incompetent.
Should be “eye for an eye.”
