Ocasio-Cortez passed over for influential House committee (Somali Muslim ditched by Dems, as well)

Ocasio-Cortez didn’t get a seat on the powerful tax writing committee she sought to push her progressive agenda of Medicare for All, free college tuition and a green new deal. Instead, the New York slot on the House Ways and Means went to a moderate Democrat, Long Island Rep. Tom Suozzi, a former CPA, attorney and county executive. Suozzi will assume the committee seat of Rep. Joe Crowley, the Queens Democrat Ocasio-Cortez defeated last year in a stunning upset.

Ocasio-Cortez sought the spot (which is usually off limits to freshman reps) with the backing of progressive groups that pushed for a slate of fresh-faced candidates to earn posh assignments.

Michigan Rep. Somali Muslim, Rashida Tlaib, made a play for Appropriations, but she too was passed over.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims to support worker rights. However, according to the NY Daily News,
the state of New York fined her campaign $1,500; she broke the law by not having workers’ comp coverage.
Ocasio-Cortez bleats about supporting workers’ rights for all workers ......just not her own.

I didn’t see much Babylon 5 so I missed that episode.
The dems do remind me of Mao’s Great Leap Forward that destroyed generations of Chinese culture and created their Lost Generation of uneducated fools who have no concept of anything but their own superiority.

Say what we will about the Clintonista’s, they knew how to keep a firm grip on power. Hillary’s dominance of the party during her last run was text book perfect. Only her own personal flaws and the superhuman effort by the Trump team saved the day.

That type of dominance comes with a price though. Hard work.
Bill and Hillary put in the time and effort to fashion that well oiled machine. They personally picked the people who would be Team Clinton players and put them in prominent places in the party, they cultivated the media and Hollywood, they stroked the donors and behind the scenes power players. Evil as they are they are ANYTHING but a couple of Arkansas hicks.

Obama on the other hand is a lazy ass who could have held real power in the party and country for the rest of his life. Fortunately he is too lazy. He got his, now he will sit back and bask in his glory as the First Black President.
As a result of his arrogance and laziness we are seeing the end result of Identity Politics. The various tribes are turning on each other.

IF we had a real second party the Republicans could easily shatter the dems and rule the roost for twenty or more years like the dems did from FDR till the Gingrich congress. Unfortunately for the country the Republican party today has too much in common with the less strident dems. Only their own re-election and their donors matter. They have shown their colors by not embracing the President that We The People elected.

Not sure what the future brings but it will be something quite unlike today. The country can’t remain so politically balkanized and function properly.

I know the real reason that AOC cannot be given a committee seat with large responsibility. Imagine her trying to participate in or run a committee without a working knowledge of Roberts Rules of Order.

OCA likely needs a crash course in Roberts Rules of Order, but even her ordinary political speech is disorderly and choppy, as if her attention span is about 10 seconds.

Add a few PMS days on any committee and you can imagine the havoc and destruction AOC could bring about.

I am sorry they did not give her a real powerful committee assignment. It would have been great to watch her bring the entire party down.

I said here that Ms Bug Eyes radical, young, edgy hip style was ok for the hicks in her home town but once she got to the big time she was just going to be a little fish in a big pond. And with all her Commie crap and her big mouth it wouldn’t be long before the ‘’adults’’ in her party shut her up and buried her on some obscure House committee. Boy is she going to be steamed! Like an eighth grade girl who lost the student council election because ‘’everyone hates me’’.
