House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused President Trump Thursday of a set-up in their meeting a day earlier, when the president walked out after she told him she’ll never allow him funding for his border wall.
Mrs. Pelosi also questioned the president’s motives, saying he’s negotiating from a position of weakness.
“I don’t even know if the president wants the wall. He wants a debate on the wall,” she said.
The California Democrat has said she would allow a single dollar to go to the wall if it ended the shutdown but has said the president’s current $5.7 billion request is a no-go.
Mrs. Pelosi also said the border fight is not about national security.
“It really isn’t,” she said.

Trump has an easy solution already in hand. Based on the DOD IGs announcement that the department was failing to spend about $5B/year (over the last 5 years) just do a vigorous, quarterly sweep of unspent O&M funds in the services and use the “excess” money to increase the number of engineer units (General Support Engineer Battalions in the Army and Marine Corps, CB Battalions in the Navy, and Prime Beef Units in the Air Force) then have them conduct active training by building barriers along the border along with the regular, established units also participating as schedules permit. Hell yes, it is an artifice but it would create the best military construction battalions in the world. Units ready for employment against a peer threat... which is a part of DOD’s already established mission.
It's only $5B -- and we're talking about the Rule of Law and national sovereignty. This is a no-brainer.

Nancy is a perfect example. Everything is calculated to be against her. And what is wrong with her mouth. No one dare ask...she’ll claim she was set up.
Hey Chancy! He asked you to come over to negotiate. You said “Yes”. When you got there, he asked if you were ready to negotiate on wall funding. You said “No”.

I don’t know where she comes up with stupid remarks like that, she can’t be getting that kind of thing from her advisers unless they’re totally inept.

It was a set up in that POTUS pretty much knew the Dems would be unreasonable and make asses of themselves. But there was always a solution for Nancy - don’t be unreasonable and don’t make an ass of yourself.
