Gun-control advocate Gabby Giffords attended a ceremony Tuesday in which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced a bill that would criminalize private gun sales.
The legislation is titled H.R. 8 to honor the former congresswoman Giffords, who survived a shooting eight years ago, Jan. 8, 2011, Breitbart News reported.
Pelosi issued a tweet saying, It is truly blessing to have former Rep. @GabbyGiffords join us to introduce #HR8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019, eight years after the Tucson shooting.
Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Calif., joined Pelosi in introducing the bill.
They were accompanied by three Republicans: Reps. Peter King of New York, Brian Mast of Florida and Chris Smith of New Jersey.
Thompson tweeted an ABC News report explaining the bill expands background checks to cover non-retail gun sales.
Breitbart pointed out, however, that the legislation would not have prevented the attack on Giffords. Her attacker passed a background check to acquire the handgun he used.

Not a chance in a million this makes it thru the legislative process and becomes law. Keep wasting your time, Nancy...
Want to bet that all their bill titles include bipartisan, sensible, or common sense in them?
And a tiny little seal of approval from a particular entity that’s headed for havahad.
Not this time, but it will as long as the Gun Control Act of 1968 is on the books. I figure the next time the D controls all 3, it will be law in 2 weeks.
****Not a chance in a million this makes it thru the legislative process and becomes law. Keep wasting your time, Nancy..****
.....at some point it will. However, we all need to agree that we will not comply. It’s amazing that the 2A is there for this very reason. Government over reach-—Yet, they continue to over reach
She thinks walls are immoral. I guess she thinks being able to defend yourself is immoral too.
Totalitarians and dictators all.
The Democrats must be dissolved as a party. Even as a pyrrhic gesture like this it send a message that they do not believe in the constitution or the republic and seek to destroy America.
This is the line folks. Force them to choke on it
Common sense and real are the two that agrivate me the most.
Bang! Dems introduce bill criminalizing private gun sales.
Amusing themselves by abusing themselves. Morons, all.
“Breitbart pointed out, however, that the legislation would not have prevented the attack on Giffords. Her attacker passed a background check to acquire the handgun he used.”
They aren’t interested in stopping criminals.
I guess we will just have to give them away for free
Son (thoroughly indoctrinated/brainwashed by public school): Cool! Do you have a permit to own it? Will I need a permit? We'll have to do a background check, right? Do I need a trigger lock? Can I store it in your gun safe? Do I need permission to take it out? Do I have to show an I.D. to buy shells?...
Dad: Never mind...
And we ALL KNOW CRIMINALS WILL OBEY THE LAWS, RIGHT?...................
It’s called ‘Political Onanism’......................
They plan to enforce this ONLY on non-violent, law-abiding normal citizens and to NOT enforce it on violent criminals who they love and cherish and want to use their illegal guns to take whatever they want from their “oppressors.”
Sadly, my liberal acquaintances who are hunters and gun owners will mumble about not entirely agreeing with this but, in the end, they will submit. Party uber alles.
That’s what this country needs right now: another unenforceable law that won’t stop criminals or accomplish anything else useful.
Ya mean no more sales from the trunk of the car? Yeah, dat will work, it will be like selling drugs, you may stop a few but not all. Those who want to use them for unlawful purposes, will have all they want, including the ammo that goes with it. Everything in America has a price, money talks, Bulls#!t walks. Eventually we will need an Army to enforce it. You can’t think with your emotions like the Libs do.
