"Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time. I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!"

“Totally ignore the Court” — yes, long overdue to have a confrontation between the Executive and the Judiciary.

The Judge then holds Trump in contempt, the House happily impeaches him based on that and you have to see how many Republicans won't convict in the Senate when you know all the democrats will.

Divide the wall up into as many sections as there are victims who have been killed, raped, abused. Put a victims name on each section. Make it visual on the plans.

... close down the government and you crash the economy.
Which benefits dems in 2020.

Trump has the tools to both build the wall and open the government. He would prefer to fund the wall in the traditional manner. The leftist dems do not want to fund permanent border security because it is an obstacle in their agenda. They think they have him in a corner...big mistake.

They considered it a furlough so I expect rules are different.

Typically, furloughs are a percentage of their salaries offset by unemployment benefits.........

I have no sympathy for these govt. employees who have likely never, ever been laid off, unlike the auto workers I spent my entire life with.............

Try to build the Wall without congressional approval and it would be slapped down by a federal judge within the day.

Yup. But Trump didn't want it either, otherwise he would have gone to the mat for it back in 2017 when republicans had control of both chambers.

They think they have him in a corner...big mistake.

Trump is in a corner, Airport workers are going unpaid and will soon have to leave and look for other work.

Start closing airports and you crash the economy.

Did ya see Nancys talk and her “poor” gov. Workers who are not getting paid—all were FAT, over paid Union goons. I had few tears for them—They were a backdrop only, just enough to stand behind the Demorats and their master, Nancy. hey looked like they could stand to lose a few dozen pounds.

Don’t need martial law, and you don’t want martial law.

Just issue the emergency declaration, attach all the substantiation needed for a court challenge, issue the order to the Corps of Engineers, then end the shut down.

Announce it on TV, start golfing.

“Airport workers are going unpaid and will soon have to leave and look for other work.”

They have reserves and military ready to go.

There are 10,500 tower certified air traffic controllers.

The military doesn't have nearly that many.

And even fewer that have experience with the traffic that occurs at hubs like Atlanta, Newark and Chicago.

WashingtonFire, why you have such a hard-on for a declaration of martial law? (See here, here, here, here).

Martial law is going way too far.

For one thing, America already had a Cincinnatus—George Washington. I don't think our country gets that lucky twice, no matter how good a man we think President Trump is.

For another thing, a dictator may rule wisely and well, but it stinks to be an ordinary person subject to the dictator's edicts. Being subject to an unresponsive government is what led the colonies to rebel in the first place.

Martial law would doom, rather than save, the republic.

Declare Martial law Mr President. It’s the only way to save the Republic.

Enforcing marshal law on a nation of 300 million has never been done. The amount of troops needed to do that is staggering.

TSA Agents are in worse shape, they typically earn less than $40k a year so they really do live paycheck to paycheck.

Controllers earn much more, they typically earn on average $130k, there are not nearly enough of them (there is about a 2000 controller shortage) so they get overtime. Until now.

Controllers have to retire from the job at age 56 so they're rather young and have mortgages and truck notes to pay so they can't go very long without paychecks either.

Government rules are not really rules but politics. As a Viet Nam Veteran employment was a problem after the war. My brother said if you wanted to work you did not say you were a veteran. That was quite true. I spent a lot of time on unemployment trying to get work. Union halls offer hiring for members but I was not covered by union rules. We all have a different story of employment so there is no one answer.

They have reserves and military ready to pick up the slack. They just released the stats and so far attendance is only 2 percent lower than the same time last year and still within their guidelines for safety.

What does bother me is there will never be any recall or mention when previous government shut downs comparison impacts get reviewed over the impact they had. Of this;

Not dare refer to the most costly and disgraceful results from a “shutdown” that happened during Nixon’s presidency. Caused by the democrats refusal to stand by the Vietnamese effort to remain independent by refusing them air support and supplemental funding of arm supplies which would have prevented that loss and that humiliating disgraceful evacuation of our Saigon embassy.

Which quickly then resulted in a multitude of Vietnamese being slaughtered and the sacrifices of thousands of our armed forces paying with their lives assisting them in their fight for freedom disgraced.

They don't miss their first paycheck until Friday.

Also Federal Prison workers and guards are going unpaid.
