He got better as he went along.

• He needs to speak a little more slowly.
• He should pause a beat between sentences to allow what he has just said to register.
• Some sentences he should repeat for emphasis, because that fits his natural speaking style. The sentence about more deaths in one year from ODs than in the entire Vietnam War could have been repeated, for example, and others.
• He should imagine he is speaking to someone over a dinner table, making his points. He has a different style than Reagan or the Bushes or Zero, and he should speak as closely as possible to his natural style.

Chuck is a much better speaker than Nancy.

You can’t convince me Nancy has not had one or more small strokes affecting her ability to think, remember and speak.

With all due respect, as former teacher and person who has often addressed officials in public, I think President Trump’s public speaking skills tonight were above average and he gave an excellent speech.

I think he was using a teleprompter tonight which he usually does not do. I’m sure he wanted to be certain that the facts were stated accurately b/c that makes the case for building the wall. It was interesting to see him speak like that, though. He is generally so off the cuff.
