A German cardinal on Friday provoked anger and controversy when he claimed the Catholic church was not responsible for sexual abuse by its clerics, and instead sought to pin the blame on homosexuality.
“What has happened in the church is no different from what is happening in society as a whole,” Cardinal Walter Brandmüller said. “The real scandal is that the Catholic church hasn’t distinguished itself from the rest of society.”
A study commissioned by the German Bishops Conference and published last year found that more than 3,600 children were sexually abused by Catholic clergy in Germany between 1946 and 2014.
But Cardinal Brandmüller claimed that only a “vanishingly small number” of clergy had committed abuses. He said the real problem was homosexuality and claimed it is “statistically proven” that there is a link between homosexuality and abuse.

There have have sound sociological studies done that show that homosexual men are 11 times more likely to sexually abuse teens or kids than heterosexual men. This Cardinal is brave to speak the truth and go against the PC culture that has infested the Catholic Church and society.

The hierarchy of the RC Church allowed gays to infiltrate the clergy. Now, I do not mean to indict every gay clergyman, some of whom strive to live celibate lives just the same as a heterosexual would do. Once multiples of gays were inside the clergy society, it metasticized. Some of these men managed to get advancements to bishoprics, and eventually even to becoming cardinals.
Any society which allows behavior which is against the basic mores of its institution is setting itself up for scandal and abuse. Accusations against priests of abuse against young boys/altar boys and young seminarians, etc. are ignor3ed if the leading clergy of the diocese are also gays. They may be subject to blackmail, for instance, and therefore cover everything up. The harm, and abuse, and sinfulness multiplies.
after reading Goodbye Good Men I would agree with the cardinal
1. The Catholic Church has trouble finding vocations over the last 50+ years because it has bent over backwards to embrace worldly things and accommodate itself to the modern world. If the goal of a religious organization's existence is to make itself comfortable in the world, it will always lose vocations to other pursuits that offer plenty more in worldly terms. Who would want to be a Catholic priest instead of a Wall Street banker, a medical doctor, or a rabble-rousing political huckster?
2. Traditional Catholic groups like the Society of St. Pius X and the Fraternity of Saint Peter that have eschewed the modern outlook of the larger Catholic Church have no trouble attracting pious, dedicated young men to the priesthood. These groups are building new churches and dealing with overflowing seminaries even as regular parishes are closing and their members fading away. Celibacy is most definitely part of the life of a priest in these orders, and I suspect there are almost ZERO cases of homosexuality among these men.
3. Priestly celibacy in the Catholic Church is what made countries like Poland so strong in their resistance to communist rule. Across Europe, Christian denominations whose leaders had family responsibilities offered almost no resistance to communist governments because these religious leaders were thoroughly compromised by their worldly responsibilities and readily capitulated to any pressure brought upon them.

Good points, but what would be the reason for so many homosexuals in the catholic church? I was aware years ago of the large number of homosexual men going through to be priests. What’s the reason for this?

Homosexual pedophiles were banned.
Then the rules changed and they were allowed to become priests—as long as they promised to remain celibate. . .like homosexuals are capable of that restriction.
The current abuse is rooted in homosexuals and their pedophile bent. The German is right, homosexuals are the problem.

Perverts can sneak in anywhere, though the churches I know of have required background checks for 20 years or more.
The issue is what happens when perversity comes to light.
Rome covered it up and moved the perverts to greener pastures - under the tenure at least 5 popes.
The Catholic Church has to come to the point when they bust the queer priests out of the priesthood. Nothing else will end this abuse. Also, they must not allow anybody with homosexual tendencies into the seminaries.

In one episode a catholic chaplin held a service for Marines all geared up for an immnent landing.
The priest droned on in Latin, in Latin. The Catholic curch and all it’s costumed queers are a joke in the modern world
